Final Table Set; Leong Leads!
It's all over on Day 3 here at the PokerStars.net APPT Macau Main Event and what an eventful day it was. What started as 49 players, slowly whittled down to our final nine, after a lengthy ten-hour day.
We started off proceeding by needing one more player to bust, to ensure everyone else made the money, and it was a brutal exit for Manuel Blaschke. After opening the pot and getting called by Vladimir Troyanovskiy, a ten-high board saw him throw out a continuation bet, and then snap-call the all in from his opponent. He confidently tabled his pocket aces and was in great shape against Troyanovskiy’s jack-ten, however, the jack on the river would see him exit the tournament floor almost instantly
Coming into Day 3 it was Yan Cui who who had the most chips, holding a slight lead over David Man and Jay Tan who were close behind. Man would leave us in 20th placce, with Cui shortly after in 16th, but Tan was able to find herself as one of the remaining nine.
She outlasted most of the field, and is the last female standing, after four started today. Pokerstars Team Pro Vivian Im was eliminated in 39th place, and Sixiao “Juicy” LI in 19th place, but it was the efforts of Mei Ngok that had most of the players talking. Ngok was one of two very short stacks as play commenced today, but held her nerve throughout the hour long hand-for-hand bubble, before maneuvering her stack through the day, to finish in a very respectable 17th place.
Some prominent players who managed a deep run include Jordan Westmorland (42nd), Bobby Zhang (41st), Justin Chan (38th), Matt Carter (34th), Michael Mariakis (28th), Tomaz Yip (18th), Andrew Scott (14th) and Vladimir Troyanovskiy.
Of course, what everyone wants to know is who is still in contention for the title. It will be Kenneth Leong who will return tomorrow with the chip lead, bagging up a huge 2,012,000. Leong made a late charge, and won a massive pot towards the end, to secure his name up the top of the list.
