Oliver Gill opened it up to 725 and the action folded around to Didier Guerin in the small blind. Guerin made the call and so too did the big blind player.
“What you got, forty-five or something Didier?” asked Gill as the dealer flipped over a flop.
Guerin checked here and the big blind player went into the tank.
“The last time he did the tank-bet he had queen three,” Gill quipped before the player led for 1,500. At this point Gill raised it up to 3,500 and Guerin folded. Back on the big blind and he took his time before making the call.
The turn would see the player lead for 2,100 and Gill make the call. The board completed with a on the river and once again the player led with bet, this time firing out 5,100.
“I should jam here for value, but I just call,” Gill said as he tabled .
“Okay he just has a pair of twos, interesting,” said Gill as the player turned over .
Gill now has around 90,000 in chips, which is easily the largest stack we can see.
Dider Guerin's chip stack has been heading in the right direction here on Day 1a of the APPT Melbourne Main Event, while table mate Jesse McKenzie's stack has been heading in the wrong direction.
We recently arrived at their table to find a board already on the felt and with Guerin leading out with a bet of 1,375. McKenzie eventually made the call and then mucked when Guerin turned over .
Guerin is now up on over 45,000 in chips, while McKenzie has steadily fallen to around 10,000.
Sydneysider Trevor Saunders was more than happy to tell us all about a recent hand that saw him win a very hefty pot off 2005 WSOP Champion Joe Hachem.
Apparently Saunders held and managed to hit a very nice flop. What we mean by “very nice” is that Saunders flopped a straight flush when the dealer turned over .
From there Saunders check-called bets from Hachem on the flop and turn and then led for 10,000 on the river. Hachem tank-called and quickly mucked when Saunders showed his great hand.
Billy Seri just always seems to have it. At least, that's what his table is saying after he collected a big pot from Andrew Scarf. The pot was already healthy when we arrived to see Seri fire a bet of 5,300 on a board of .
Scarf toyed with his chips before splashing out a raise to 12,000. Seri asked for a count before declaring himself all in which forced Scarf to quickly fold.
"You folded? Ha! I didn't think you had queens!" chuckled Seri as he moved up to 55,000. Scarf is still in reasonable shape with 20,000.

Ashley Warner knows what it takes to make it deep in a tournament here in the Crown Poker Room. Just last year Warner finished runner-up for a six-figure score in the ANZPT Main Event. Now, here on Day 1a of APPT Melbourne, Warner will be looking to start his journey toward similar success.
A recent hand that went Warner's way began when a player opened it up to 600 from the cutoff. Warner made the call from the small blind and the dealer flipped over a flop. Both players checked here and a hit the turn. This time Warner led for 525 and a call would see a complete the board on the river.
Warner flicked out a bet of 1,200 here and after a few moments, his opponent had folded and Warner had scooped up the small pot.
Jonno Pittock is a very familiar face to the Crown Poker Room and recently sat at the felt of the APPT Melbourne Main Event.
Pittock is a former tournament director of this very room and many of the players around the tables have already recognised him. Let's see if Pittock is as successful playing poker as he was adjudicating it.
