Season 7 of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour continued on Saturday at the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne, Australia. Exactly 168 players returned on Day 2 of the APPT Melbourne Main Event and after an action-packed day 42 remained and it was [Removed:17] who leads the way.

Late into the night it was looking like Dejan Boskovic would be the chip leader. However, it was Yan who steadily built a stack throughout Day 2 to end up with the chip lead. Yan, from New Zealand, is no stranger to the Crown Poker Room as he finished 6th in the Aussie Millions Main Event earlier this year.

Check out all the end-of-day chip counts and the Day 2 table and seating draw in the blog below!

With only the top 36 players set to make the money, Day 2 was never going to get near the bubble. Some of those who fell extremely short of the deep run they were looking for include Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang, Brendon Rubie, Gary Benson, Ashley Warner, Daniel Neilson, Dave Allan, Aaron Benton and WSOP gold bracelet winner Jarred Graham.

While players like Graham weren’t able to survive, other prominent Aussies thrived. Some of those who finished Day 2 with a handy chip stack include recently appointed Full Tilt ANZPT Ambassador Jonathan Karamalikis, Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Jason Gray, Dave Heskin, 2010 ANZPT Melbourne champion Martin Kozlov, Ivan Zalac and British expatriate Ashley Mason.

When the 42 players return on Day 3 of the APPT Melbourne Main Event the plan will be to burst through the money and play down to the final table. Be sure to check in with the PokerNews Live Reporting Team from 12.30pm local time on Sunday to find out who makes the final nine!
