Zalac Eliminates Borg

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

A big hand right near the media desk just took place before the break. It started with David Borg opening to 700 from the hijack, before being met with a raise to 2,100 from Ivan Zalac on the button. Borg then re-raised to 4,700, which was called, as both players saw the flop come down {4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

Borg threw out a continuation bet of 5,400 which was called as the {4-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Borg didn’t slow down, placing another bet of 8,400 into the middle, as Zalac went into the tank. He eventually moved all in, which covered Borg, who had 5,200 chips behind. He made the call, and both players tabled their cards.

Borg: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Zalac: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Zalac was in front with his over pair, and had to dodge an ace or king to win the hand. The {7-Hearts} completed the board, sending Borg to the rail, as Zalac moves up to 85,000 in chips heading into the final break.

Tran Sets up Another Opponent

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With the board reading {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, a player checked from under the gun, before Trung Tran bet out 4,000 in chips. This sent his opponent into the tank for over a minute, before he finally moved all in for approximately 13,000 chips in total. Tran snap-called and both players tabled their cards.

Tran: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

Tran had flopped another set against his opponent who held the over-pair. The turn and river came the {10-Spades} and {4-Hearts} to see Tran rocket up to 82,000 in chips, as another player hits the rail just before the second break of the day.

Razavi Makes Great Call

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Sam Razavi has been steadily chipping up throughout the day, and with calls like the one he just made, we can understand why.

Action started with Razavi raising to 650 from the cutoff, and both blinds came along for the ride. The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}, and it was checked to Razavi, who fired out 850. Only the small blind called, and the turn brought the {2-Spades}, pairing the board and completing the flush.

It was checked again, and this time, Razavi fired out 1,250. Once again his opponent quickly called, and the river brought a scary {8-Clubs}. His opponent checked for a third time, and Razavi fired one more bet out, this time for 2,350. However, he was then faced with a check raise to 5,675. Razavi was clearly pained by the bet, but decided to go ahead and toss the call in anyways.

Razavi's opponent tapped the table, and said "jack high". Razavi tabled {6-Spades}{5-Spades} for a flush, and it was good enough to take down the pot. After that hand, he is now up to 42,000.

Kelly Shoves The River

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Action started with a middle position player raising it up to 650, and he received calls from three players, including Dan Kelly in the big blind. The flop came down {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, and Kelly checked to the original raiser, who fired out 2,050. The other two players folded, but Kelly wasn't going anywhere, as he counted out a raise of 5,350, and stuck it in the middle. His opponent called, and both players checked when the {9-Diamonds} hit the turn.

Theriver brought the {8-Spades}, and Kelly stacked up his remaining chips, about 11,000 in total. and shoved them into the middle. His opponent frustratingly mucked his hand, and Kelly took the pot to up his stack to 25,000.

Quads for Wang

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We arrived at the table to see the player under the gun open to 700, before being met with a re-raise to 2,700 from an opponent to his immediate left. The table folded around to Ted Wang on the small blind, who decided to re-raise to 6,600 in chips. The original raiser didn’t hesitate, moving all in for his last 8,500, forcing a quick fold from the player in between, as Wang made the call.

Wang: {K-Spades}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

It looked like Wang was going to double up his opponent, but not until the dealer spread out the flop {3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, giving him the lead. The {5-Clubs} was no help for his opponent, who needed an ace to steal the pot. The {K-Hearts} completed the board, only bringing more disappointment to the all in player, who graciously stood up from his chair, shook Wang’s hand and walked out of the tournament area.

Wang now has 36,000 in chips midway through the fourth level of the day.
