Day 1a Completed
It was a short, yet action-packed day here in the Philippines, as Day 1a of the PokerStars.net APPT Cebu Main Event is in the books. We played six one-hour levels today, and after the dust settled, Ivan Zalac is looking down on the rest of the 41 players in the field, sitting on an impressive stack of 109,100 in chips.
One of the most notable stories of the day is the play of Trung Tran. Tran is looking for his second poker title in just two weeks here at the Philippines, as he just took down the $2,500 buy-in APT Main Event in Manila on April 20th. That win was good for $124,000, and he has set himself up for another deep run here, as he is second in chips with 105,900.
Some of the players joining Zalac and Tran in moving on to Day 2 are last year’s ninth-place finisher Antoine Amourette (69,600), Sam Razavi (42,200) and Team Pokerstars Pro Bryan Huang (19,800).
It wasn’t good news for all of our notables, however. Along the way today, we lost Dan Kelly, David Borg, Vincent Rubianes, 2012 Asia Player of the Year Yosuke Sekiya and Team Pokerstars Pro Vivian Im, who won this event two years ago. Unfortunately for these players, this is not a re-entry event, so they are done for the tournament.
That does it for us today! We will be back at noon local time tomorrow for Day 1b. Just like today, we will play six levels before the players bag and tag for the night. Until then, goodnight from paradise!

With two hands remaining on his table, Bryan Huang has found a double to move to above his starting stack.
With some friendly fire pre-flop, Huang continued with a bet of 1,500 on a flop reading . His opponent raised to 3,000 which was called, as both players saw the drop on the turn. Huang checked, as his opponent threw out 3,500 in chips. Huang instantly moved all in for his last 4,175 in chips and was called.

There have been a handful of bustouts in the last few minutes of the night, and one of the ones we didn't catch was that of Dan Kelly. Kelly was recently moved, but when we made our last rounds of the floor, he was nowhere to be found.

The remaining players in today's field will play three more hands before the completion of the day.
In the latter stages of the final level, Bryan Huang has lost a pot dropping him down to 11,000 in chips.
The hand started with a player in late position opening to 1,200 and getting called by Huang in the hijack as the fell on the flop. A continuation bet of 2,200 was again called by Huang as the dropped on the turn. Huang would bet out 4,2000 after his opponent checked his option, but instantly mucked when met with an all-in for 15,000 in chips.
With 15-minutes left in play, Huang will be looking to pick his spots, as he attempts to find a double before the end of play.

Zalac snap-called a bet of 4,400 as the completed the board. This time Zalac’s opponent checked, giving him the chance to bet out 5,100 which was instantly called.
Zalac confidently tabled his but was noticeably upset when his opponent showed his .
