Money Bubble Burst!

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The hand started with Milan Gurung opening to 6,000 from middle position, and finding a call from Lingling Teng in the hijack. The action folded around to Ivan Tan on the big blind, who moved all in for his last 66,300 in chips. The decision was back on Gurung, who counted out a call, and moved it aside, as he counted the remainder of his stack. He eventually made the call, and Teng got out of the way, as both players tabled their cards.

Gurung: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Tan: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

Board: {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Tan was in the lead, and was looking the goods to win the hand, until the dealer produced the queen on the river to see him eliminated on the money bubble.

“All the short stacks should thank me,” said Gurung, pointing out that a few players grinded a small stack to the money.

Each of the remaining 20-players have guaranteed themselves PHP141,000 for their efforts today.

Kaigorodtcev Doubles On the Bubble

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Andrei Kaigorodtcev had already secured one double up earlier in the day, and he was just fortunate enough to earn another double as we play hand-for-hand.

Action started with our chip leader Daniel Spence raising to 6,500. Kaigorodtcev was next to act, and he moved all in for his last 33,100. When it got back to Spence, he shrugged, and said, "I call."

Kaigorodtcev: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Spence: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

The board ran down {8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and Kaigorodtcev's jack kicker was good enough to take down the pot and double him up to 71,000, while Spence losses a fraction of his colossal stack.

Cho Gone

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Shingo Cho’s comeback run has come to an end. After recently doubling-up, he found himself all-in preflop holding {A-}{Q-}, but running into the {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} held by Milan Gurung. Cho could only watch as the board ran out {7-Hearts}{K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{J-Spades}{5-Spades} to fill up Gurung and send him to the rail.

Cho Doubles

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

The action started with Andrew Nguyen opening to 4,800 from the cut-off. Ivan Tan made the call from the button as the decision moved to Shingo Cho on the big blind. He tanked for over a minute before announcing all-in for his remaining 33,000 in chips. Nguyen quickly folded, and Tan made the call, as both players tabled their cards.

Tan: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Cho: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

Board: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Spades}

Cho was able to spike an ace on the flop to take the lead, and held, to see him double up to 78,000 in chips. Tan falls down to 75,000 as a new level starts.

Tan And Nguyen Tussle In Lengthy Pot

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Andrew Nguyen and Zhong Wei Ivan Tan just tangled in a pot that lasted almost 10 minutes. Milan Gurung started the action by raising to 5,200 in early position, and he got three callers: Nguyen on the button, Tan in the small blind, and Jose Medina in the big blind.

The flop came down {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and it was checked to Nguyen, who fired out 10,200. Tan was the lone caller, and the turn brought the {7-Diamonds}. Tan check called another bet from Nguyen, this time of 22,600, and the river brought the {4-Diamonds}. Here's where things got lengthy.

Tan thought for about a minute before betting out 19,200, and Nguyen tanked for about 90 seconds before coming back with a raise to 66,200. Tan went deep, deeeeep into the tank. After about three minutes, he finally spoke, asking "why so big?". Nguyen didn't respond, and after at least two more minutes of thinking, Nguyen began to get antsy, clearly bothered by how long Tan was taking. The clock was never called, and after a tank that lasted about six minutes, Tan said "fold" and flashed the {a-Diamonds}.

Nguyen didn't show, and with that pot, he's up to 245,000, while Tan tumbled to 95,000.

Another Quick Elimination

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Christian Friedrich started the hand by opening to 5,000 from the hijack. The decision was then on Choi Young Su, who committed his remaining 22,100 from the button. Friedrich called, and both players tabled their cards.

Friedrich: {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Su: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Board: {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Su was in great shape to double up, after he dodged the flop and turn. But with so many outs to the river, Friedrich was able to hit a nine to make a pair, sending Su home just a few places from the money.

Gurung Doubles Through Cho

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Shingo Cho started the day in the top 10 of our counts, and even though he wasn't at the top, he may have been the odds on favorite. Cho has been on a tear here in Cebu, winning Event #1, the Cebu Cup, and taking second in Event #2, the turbo event. Cho was hoping to continue that string of final tables today, but he just took a huge hit at the hands of Milan Gurung.

We missed the preflop action, but we saw that Cho and Gurung, who were both in early position, were heads up on a flop of {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Cho checked to Gurung, who fired out 15,500. Cho tanked for about a minute before announcing all in, and Gurung shrugged, before putting some chips forward for the call.

Cho: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Gurung: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

It was an overpair vs. overpair cooler for Cho, who woud need one of the two remaining jacks in the deck to win. However, the board completed {7-Clubs} and {5-Diamonds}, and Gurung doubled top 160,000. Meanwhile, Cho was crippled down to just 16,000.
