Haraikawa Gets Lau to Fold

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Marcus Lau opened to 60,000 and Hajime Haraikawa moved all in for 440,000 in total. The player from Malaysia gave it a lot of thought but eventually mucked his {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

Lau also got involved in a three-way pot out of the small blind and led the {7-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} turn to see Shashank Rathi call from one seat over, Zhou Zhou had mucked. The {8-Clubs} river completed the board and both players checked. Lau showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Rathi held {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}. One can only imagine what had happened if the river card had been different.

Alner Busts to Zang

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Tom Alner
Tom Alner

Tom Alner moved all in for just under 400,000 from the button and was called by Shunu Zang in the small blind.

Zang: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Alner: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

On the {Q-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, Zang immediately confirmed his lead while Alner now had to hope for one of the remaining tens in the deck in order to stay alive. The {7-Diamonds} turn and {7-Clubs} river were of no help and the Brit headed to the rail without a payday.

Rathi Fires All the Way

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Shashank Rathi did what he knows best and kept betting in two hands against Marcus Lau. The first hand saw a final bet of 200,000 on the river of a {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{K-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} to enforce a fold. In the second hand, the local regular raised the {3-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} river from 150,000 to 300,000 and also scooped the pot without showdown.

O'Dwyer Slowrolled and Busted

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Steve O'Dwyer had lost a limped pot against Jack Hu and then moved all in for 565,000 from the button. Hu folded the small blind and Chang He peeked at his hole cards in the big blind, stood up and appeared to have a difficult decision. He then called and to the surprise of all other players on the table turned over his {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

O'Dwyer held {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the Irish-American was sent to the rail after a board of {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The start-of-the-day chip leader was not necessarily happy and Hu as well as the other Chinese players told He, after he was done celebrating the hand, that this was not really good poker etiquette.

O'Dwyer walked into the tournament area again a few minutes later and also past our media table in a very calm manner "I am okay with it."

Yu Doubles Through Rathi

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Shashank Rathi raised to 60,000 and called the shove of Liang Yu for 175,000 with {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}. He had two live cards compared to the {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} of his opponent but failed to deal the final blow on a board of {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Still 15 players left, four to the money.

Chop It Up

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Jack Hu raised and called the shove of Tom Alner for 13 big blinds with the {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} to see the Brit flip over {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}. The board ran out {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} and the kicker played no crucial role anymore.

Chips Raced Off

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

The T-1,000 chips have been raced off at the start of the new level and Tom Alner's all in for 348,000 went through uncalled. On table 3 is barely any post flop action, rather raise or all in and fold thus far.

He Busts Lo

Level 16 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Shing Fung Lo
Shing Fung Lo

One hand after getting severely short-stacked, Shing Fung "Rono" Lo called all in after a Jack Hu raise and a Chang He three-bet to 125,000. Hu folded and He's {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} held up against {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} despite a sweat on the {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} board.
