Day 2 Completed

Fu Leads APPT Macau as 41 Players Survive Day 2

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
The man to catch - Day 2 chip leader XiaoHua Fu
The man to catch - Day 2 chip leader XiaoHua Fu

Day 2 of the 2015 Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau Main Event at PokerStars LIVE Macau at City of Dreams began with 188 players, but by the end of the night just 41 remained with XiaoHua Fu finishing on top with 724,000. Fu rocketed up the leader board when he knocked out both Sihai Jiang and Kai Yat Fam in the same hand holding pocket aces.

Hot on his heels are Fan Zhao (588,000), Kwet Yoong Lim Sam (580,000) and Zhenru Xie (519,000) who are the only four players over the half million-chip mark. All three of those player applied pressure around the bubble and throughout the last two levels to secure themselves big stacks heading into Day 3.

Just after the last break of the evening, the money bubble burst with Zheng Wang earning the title of bubble boy. It happened when action folded around to Yat Wai Chen, who moved all in from the small blind. Zheng called off his last few big blinds, and he had the best hand with his {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, which was out in front of Chen’s {j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. However, the flop came down {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades} to give Chen trips, and Zheng was unable to improve. With that, the final 59 players secured themselves at least HK$43,600.

Others who fell during the course of play included Day 1b chip leader Jia Liang, Sparrow Cheung, Yifan Zhang, Sunny Jung, Kenny Leong, Raiden Kan, Takahiro Nakai, Winfred Yu, and Steve O'Dwyer.

O’Dwyer committed all his chips holding the {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} on a {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop and was up against an opponent’s {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Even with all his flush and straight outs. O'Dwyer was unable to find a card he needed and was sent to the rail with nothing more than a min-cash.

Meanwhile, several notable to survive the day included Alex Lee, Nicolas Cardyn, Daniel Lee, Gab Yong Kim, and Day 1a chip leader Zhifeng Yao. Those players and more will return at 2:00 p.m. local time on Saturday.

PokerNews will bring you all the action as the tournament closes in on the final table. Also, the HK$100,000 High Roller Event will be kicking off at 5:00 p.m. local time, which will also be live blogged.

Ho Cheng Busts in Last Two Hands

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The last two hands were just announced and Leo Yan Ho Cheng as well as Weijie Ye got their almost identical stacks into the middle.

Ho Cheng: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Ye: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

After the board ran out {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, the stacks were counted and Ho Cheng had exactly 500 chips more than his opponent. With one ante left heading into the last hand of the day, he was forced all in and Ke Jing Li three-bet from 12,000 to 29,000 to pick up one caller.

On the {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop, Li's continuation bet enforced a fold and he flipped over the {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Ho Cheng needed a deuce with {6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} as hole cards, even a four would have helped as the {3-Hearts} appeared on the turn. The {10-Clubs} river sent him to the rail in the very last hand of Day 2 and the Canadian headed to the payout desk.

Xie's Kings Bust Liu

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Geng Liu
Geng Liu

Zhenru Xie and Geng Liu saw a heads-up flop of {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and a raising war broke out. Xie put his opponent to the test and moved all in with the superior stack. It took at least three minutes for Liu to make up his mind and he shook his head in disgust after calling and seeing the hand of his opponent.

Liu: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Xie: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

Neither the {7-Spades} turn nor the {3-Diamonds} river provided any help and Xie appears to be up to half a million in chips, though he is not done stacking yet.

Nanzaddorj Busts

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Enkhbat Nanzaddorj
Enkhbat Nanzaddorj

Game over for Enkhbat Nanzaddorj. The player from Mongolia three-bet shoved his short stack out of the big blind with {A-Hearts}{10-Spades} and was called by initial raiser Haoxiang Shi with {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and the better kicker played a crucial role on the {Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board.

Hamnet Flushed

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The player in early position raised before Ben Hamnet moved all in for his remaining 39,000 from the hijack. Florencio Campomanes made the call from the small blind which forced a fold from the big blind as well as the original raiser.

Hamnet: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Campomanes: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} to see Campomanes turn a full house and have Hamnet drawing dead. The meaningless flush card on the river just added salt in the wound as the American was sent to the rail.
