Hevad Khan Doubles Up

Moments ago, Hevad "Rain" Khan doubled through an unknown opponent after flopping top pair with a flush draw, holding {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} on a {2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs} board. All of the money went in on the flop and Khan's opponent showed the {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} for the nut flush draw.

The {4-Spades} fell on the turn, giving Khan's opponent four additional outs to win the pot, but the {9-Diamonds} on the river locked up the pot for Khan, effectively doubling him through to 58,000 in chips.

Rousso Eliminated

Just before the end of the seventh level of play, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso lost a race that put an end to her Macau main event. Rousso came over the top of an opponent's 1,600 pre-flop raise and made it a total of 9,300 to go. Her opponent made the call and tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}; Rousso turned over pocket nines.

Rousso's opponent managed to hit both of his hole cards, as the board filled out: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, sending the young pro to the rail about three quarters of the way into Day 1 play.

The Scoreboard

Just one hour past the dinner break, we're down to 155 players, meaning we've lost over 40 in a single hour. The average chip stack is currently 22,709 heading into level eight.

Happy Birthday Jeannie Hachem!

The tournament staff just took a brief moment to wish Jeannie Hachem (Joe's wife) a happy birthday. Jeannie was presented with a delicious looking chocolate cake, fully lit with candles, while tournament director Matt Savage led the room in singing Happy Birthday.

Monsour Matloubi Eliminated

Does the name ring a bell? For all of you poker aficionados out there, it should. Matloubi won the 1990 WSOP Main Event, besting Hans 'Tuna' Lund in a memorable heads-up match to take home $835,000 in prize money. Matloubi had quite a run in the early nineties, finishing 4th in the 1993 main event, and 16th one year later.

Matloubi has just been eliminated from the APPT Macau main event, after losing a coinflip to Aaron Schumacher holding {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} against Schumacher's {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Schumacher made a full house when the flop came {7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}, and that was all she wrote for the former WSOP champ.

Matloubi's elimination leaves us with two former WSOP champions, Joe Hachem ('05) and Scotty Nguyen ('98).
