Argyros Takes A Bite

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Billy Argyros opened the action from early position and didn’t seem best pleased to pick up three callers including Mike McDonald in the button.

The flop of {j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} saw Argyros continue for 2,800 and reduce the field to just him and McDonald. The turn {3-Spades} was checked but on the river {10-Hearts} a bet from Argyros of 4,200 saw McDonald lay it down.

Deadman On Fumes

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Connor Drinan faced off against Simon Deadman in a pot that had grown to near 30,000 as they reached the river of a board showing {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

Connor bet 18,000 after some thought and Deadman now faced a vital decision. If he called and got it wrong he would be left with just over 2,500. He weighed it up and called, grimacing when he saw Driunan’s {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

Deadman’s cards went in the muck along with most of his hopes for this tournament.

Liu Shoves on Cheong

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

The completed board read {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} when we found Joseph Cheong and Xuan Liu engaged in the hand. With about 18,000 already spread in the center of the table, Cheong checked over to Liu. Liu wasted no time announcing that she was all in for her last 13,300.

Cheong thought for a moment but ultimately decided to release his cards. Liu pulled the pot and now has about 31,000 to her name. Despite this hit, Cheong is still sitting among the leaders with around 88,000 in chips.

Mizzi Doubles Through Cohen

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Ken Demlakian opened the action for 800 and both Bing Xu and Sam Cohen on the button made the call. In the small blind, from a stack of just over 15,000, Sorel Mizzi three-bet to 2,100. Demlakian and Xu folded but Cohen placed out enough chips to put Mizzi all in and he quickly called.

Cohen showed {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and was against the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} of Mizzi taking away his flush outs. A final board of {7-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} saw Sorel hit his pair to survive and put a hefty dent in the stack Cohen had recently built up.

Katchalov Jacks Up the Price

Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Ken Demlakian opened the action and found calls from Eugene Katchalov on the button and Sam Cohen in the small blind. Sorel Mizzi in the big blind decided to exert some pressure with a raise and Demlakian put out the calling chips. The Team PokerStars Pro had other ideas though and with Katchalov now making it 7,200 only Damlakian made the call.

There was no further action as it was checked down with the final board showing {9-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades}.

Cards on their backs and the {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} of Demlakian was no good versus the {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} of Katchalov.

Le Jossec Cracks O'Dwyer's Kings

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

Steve O'Dwyer opened the action with a middle position raise to 1,075. Action folded over to Gabriel Le Jossec in the big blind and he made it 3,125 to go. O'Dwyer called and the two saw a flop of {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Le Jossec checked the flop, prompting O'Dwyer to bet 2,650. Le Jossec called and the {A-Clubs} hit the river. Le Jossec check-called 3,800 on this street, allowing the {2-Clubs} to finish the board.

Both players checked the river and Le Jossec tabled a winning {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for top pair. O'Dwyer flashed {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} to the table as he threw his cards into the muck. With this hit, O'Dwyer's stack is down to just around 8,000.
