Early Double For Katchalov

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov moved all in on the turn of a board reading {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and got a call from Yimin Fang.

Katchalov showed {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and was in great shape against the {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades} of Fang. A river card {6-Clubs} confirmed the double up and Katchalov was firmly back in the game while Fang was left nursing the remains of his stack.

Soshnikov Rivered

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Ivan Soshnikov had been on a bit of a roll so far today when this hand came up.

Soshnikov opened for 1,600 and got called by Jeffrey Chotikul. Small blind Cheng Peng bumped up the price to 3,100 and both Soshnikov and Chotikul made the call. The flop was {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Peng checked. Soshnikov bet 3,300 and got called by both players.

The turn card was the {9-Spades} and another bet of 7,200 from Soshnikov saw Chotikul make the call and Peng, after some deliberation, folded. The river card was the {j-Diamonds} and Soshnikov checked.

“How much do you have?” Chotikul wanted to know and Soshnikov showed him his remaining stack of around 40,000 before Chotikul bet 16,000.

Soshnikov hated it asking, “What have you got? Jacks?” but made the call. When he saw the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} he exasperatedly turned over his {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and muttered some unreportable oaths.

Wang Doubles Through Song

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Dapeng Wang opened with a raise from under the gun. Action folded to Kevin Song in the big blind and he three-bet to 5,200. Wang replied by moving all in for 13,700 total, sending Song into the tank. After a moment, Song dropped out a call and the hands were exposed.

Wang: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Song: {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Clubs}, keeping Wang's aces out in front. He doubled to about 30,000 while Song's stack fell to 66,000.

Small One for Mizzi

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Three players including Takashi Ogura and Sorel Mizzi took a flop of {2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. Ogura had first action and checked. The second player followed suit, prompting Mizzi to fire 3,800 into a pot of about 8,000. Ogura called and the other player let his hand go.

The {A-Spades} hit the felt on fourth street and Ogura checked for a second time. Mizzi cut out a bet of 8,000 and Ogura instantly flicked his hand into the muck. Mizzi picked up the pot and now has about 65,000 to his name.

Cautious Colman

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Yaxi Zhu opened the action for 2,000 and Daniel Colman was the only caller from the big blind.

The flop was {3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{a-Clubs} and Colman check-called a bet of 2,500. A turn card {6-Hearts} saw Colman check once more but when Zhu continued for 4,000 he mucked his card.

It could be a combination of awkward stack sizes on his table, having Dong Guo to his left and not getting premium hands but Colman has had a slow start today and has dropped from his initial stack. Colman’s table is next to break however and that could lead to a change of fortunes depending on where he ends up.

Count Or Call?

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

There was a bit of a dispute at one of the tables when one player had moved all in on the turn of a board reading {4-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. He thought he heard “Call” and flipped over his {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} but the other player insisted he had said “Count” and the cards were flipped back over again. It was unclear if the other player had seen it as he then quickly exposed his own {k-}{10-} before placing them face down again.

The floor was called and it was ruled that the player had not called and instead got a count of 70,800. “Do you want me to call?” He asked the all-in player but there was no answer. After a bit of perhaps face-saving thought the player folded and the {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} was flipped player again. Excitement over they got back to the game with minimal fuss. “If you checked I would go all in.” was the final word on the matter.
