Pot For Cautious Sbrzesny

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Bodo Sbrzesny check-called a bet of 14,000 from Jorn Walthaus on the flop of {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and there was to be no more action as the turn {2-Diamonds} and river {5-Diamonds} brought the delicious possibility of a straight flush. No one had it but Sbrzesny’s {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} flush was good enough to take the chips in the middle.

Tureniec Fills Up to Bust Ivanov

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We arrived to see Kristiyan Ivanov and Michael Tureniec heads up with the board reading {Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Tureniec fired a bet on the turn and Ivaonv replied by shipping all in over the top for about 60,000 total. Tureniec called and the hands were tabled.

Tureniec: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Ivanov: {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Ivanov was in the lead with his turned heart flush, but that all changed in an instant as the {A-Hearts} finished off the board on the river and gave Tureniec a full house. Tureniec's aces full of tens did the job and sent Ivanov to the rail.

Barer Counted Out

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Approaching the money bubble it is understandable that players take their time making decisions and hands take longer to play out with so much at stake.

Amichai Barer in the cut-off and Maxim Prokhorov took a fair amount of time to reach the river of a board reading {10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and that’s when the action slowed down even more. Barer had bet 16,500 and Prokhorov had raised him 35,000.

Barer sat in his seat, headphones on, staring at the side of Prokhorov’s head for a while. He then cut out various amounts of chips before putting them back and staring at the immobile Prokhorov some more. Sorel Mizzi got up from his seat to stretch his legs. The rest of the table watched on in silence.

Nothing happened for a bit more until the clock was eventually called. Barer was given a one minute countdown but did not move. With the count at two seconds he quickly checked his cards again, the count reached zero and his hand was declared dead.

Colman Lets It Guo

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Daniel Colman has been fairly quiet so far today but he opened a pot recently for 7,000 and made the call when Dong Guo raised him to 18,000.

Heads up to a flop of {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Colman check called a bet of 13,000 from Guo. They both checked the turn card {8-Spades} and when the river card came the {2-Diamonds} Colman checked again. Guo threw out a bet of 35,000 which was about half his remaining stack. Colman went in the tank and spent close to five minutes going over the hand and studying Guo as he adopted various postures. It looked like he didn’t like it but in the end Colman folded and when it was over asked Guo about his hand.

“I got a hand. It couldn’t be a bluff, look how much I had left. Nice read.” Guo told him.

Barer Over Blouin

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Ami Barer was under the gun and he opened the action by raising to 6,000. Konstantin Pogodin called from the hijack and Mike McDonald followed along from the cutoff. Stephane Blouin was on the button and he took a look at his hole cards. He announced a three-bet to 22,500, allowing action to fold back to Barer.

Barer thought for a moment before moving what looked to be 231,000 total past the betting line. Pogodin and McDonald quickly folded, leaving action on Blouin to either call for his tournament life or fold. In the end, Blouin let his cards go and Barer pulled in the pot. He now has about 350,000 in chips.

Pogodin stuck around once more, allowing the {3-Hearts} to finish off the community cards. Pogodin checked for a third time and Kaverman thought for about a minute before moving out 47,500. Pogodin instantly let go of his cards and Kaverman was awarded the pot.
