Zhang Flops It, Doubles

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Jian Zhang opened the action and then faced a raise from Dimitar Danchev to 12,000. Zhang made the call and the two of them saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} which was checked to see the turn card {8-Clubs}. Zhang moved all in and Danchev started shaking his head, studied the board for a while and made what looked like a reluctant call.

Danchev held {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} but the flop had smashed Zhang who triumphantly tabled his {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, rapping the table and shouting, “Yes.” The river {a-Hearts} completed the board as Zhang chattered on in excitement while Danchev was still shaking his head.

Troyanovskiy Doubles Through Jung

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

The board read {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and there was well over 100,000 already piled in the center of the table. Vladimir Troyanovskiy and reigning champion Sunny Jung were heads up in the hand. Troyanovskiy shipped all in on the turn, sending Jung into the tank while he pondered calling for 70,200.

Roughly two minutes passed while Jung contemplated his action. After continued thought, he ultimately decided to slide calling chips past the betting line.

Troyanovskiy: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Jung: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

Troyanovskiy's pocket aces were in the lead and they stayed that way after the {3-Clubs} completed the board. He scored the double up and now has about 270,000 in chips.

Wu On the Brink

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

It looks like Raymond Wu has had an early setback and is now running on fumes. We say a couple of recent hands where he was looking to get some back without much luck.

Wu opened under the gun for 4,000 and faced a three-bet to 9,700 from Jorn Walthaus to 9,700. Wu called and check-folded to a bet for the rest of his chips on a flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

On the next hand he was in the big blind and called a bet of 4,000 from Stephane Blouin. The flop was {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and when Wu checked a bet of just 3,000 from Blaouin was enough to get a fold from Wu who went on to fold his small blind next hand.

Ace-High Wins it for Pogodin

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

With 15,500 already in the middle, Konstantin Pogodin and Sorel Mizzi were engaged in a hand where the board read {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}. Pogodin checked over to Mizzi who shot out 10,500. Pogodin opted to come over the top with a check-raise to 22,500. Mizzi called to see fifth street.

The dealer paired the board on the river with the {4-Spades}. Pogodin slowed with a check and MIzzi knocked the table in reply. Pogodin showed {A-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for ace-king high. Mizzi mucked his hand and Pogodin was awarded the pot. He now has about 208,000 while the start-of-day chip leader has dropped to 386,000.

Barer Sets A Trap

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Chip leader Sorel Mizzi opened his first pot of the day for 5,000 and got called by Ami Barer, Darren Judges in the small blind and Konstantin Pogodin in the big blind.

The flop was {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Mizzi continued for 11,500 when it was checked to him. Barer and Pogodin made the call and they saw a turn card {8-Spades}. This time it was checked to Barer and he made it 27,300 finding one caller in Pogodin. A river {10-Clubs} didn’t see any further action and the {a-Spades}{6-Spades} of Pogodin lost out to the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} of Barer.

Salter Surviving

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

There are a few short stacks looking to double up to get back in contention. One of them is Jack Salter and after a raise of 4,100 from Buyanjargal Bold Salter moved all in from the big blind and got a fold to add a few precious chips to his stack.

A few hands later Salter opened from the cut-off and Man Hang Cheng in the blind had a long think before letting him have the pot.
