Pocket Aces Time

Pocket aces appear to be turning up everywhere at the moment.

Mike Mantan was lucky enough to land his aces with his opponent holding pocket kings. A set of aces on the flop and Mantan raked in a big pot.

A few moments later on a nearby table, Andrew Bourke pushed all in for 11,000 from under the gun with his aces. He also found himself a caller, this time with pocket jacks, and Bourke doubles through to around 22,000 in chips.

Short Stacks Falling

As the blinds start to increase the short stacks are being forced to start moving their chips around. We've had several all-in confrontrations before the flop in the last few minutes and now have only 116 players left in today's field.

Gary Lent Doubles Up

Gary Lent
Gary Lent
After calling a raise pre-flop, Gary Lent checked his set of tens on the flop of {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Spades} to his opponent who led out into the pot. Lent then check-rasied all in and was called by his opponent who held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top pair, top kicker. The turn and river blanked and Lent doubles up to 41,000 chips.

Koo Makes Incredible Laydown

Chris Koo has just made an amazing laydown to save himself from certain elimination.

On a dangerous looking board of {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, Koo made a value bet of 3500 with {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a queen-high flush.

His opponent then popped it up to 10,000 and Koo went into the think tank. After several minutes of deep deliberation Koo folded his hand face up to the disbelief of the entire table. However Koo knew to trust his read, as his opponent flashed {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut flush!

Aleks Lackovic Takes Down Huge Multi-Way Pot

With the board showing {7-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} Aleks Lackovic bets 1,500 into the pot holding a set of eights. Emad Tahtouh makes a raise to 4,500 with {J-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a double gutshot straight draw, before another opponent comes over the top of both players with an all-in raise of 14,500 with {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for top pair plus flush and straight draws. Aleks makes the call, and Tahtouh slams his cards into the muck in frustration.

The river is {10-Hearts} and the set of eights of Lackovic hold up to take down the large pot as Tahtouh lets outs a shriek in the knowledge that he would've hit his straight.

Garry Benson Doubles Up
Garry Benson Doubles Up
All the action came on the turn with the board reading {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Spades} and both Gary Benson and his opponent holding straights. His opponent held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, however his Benson's {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} had him in the lead with a larger straight. The {10-Clubs} on the river jumps Benson up to over 60,000 in chips.
