Varoxis is Chippin' Away

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Kosta Varoxis is keen to add an Aussie Millions title to his CV!
Kosta Varoxis is keen to add an Aussie Millions title to his CV!

With the stack average at 48 big blinds, we're settling in for a long grind, but 2010 Aussie Millions fourth-place finisher Kosta Varoxis has been getting busy lately despite being one of the short stacks on the table.

The action folded around to Leo Boxell who raised to 18,000 from the button; Kosta Varoxis defended his big blind, but check-folded after Boxell fired out another 18,000 on the flop of {2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Soon afterwards, Simon Charette raised to 18,500 from the button before Ben Delaney called from the big blind, only to check-fold after Charette fired out 22,500 on the flop of {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

A short time later, Kosta Varoxis accidentally posted the big blind from the under the gun position and Charette quickly pointed this out to the dealer. As Varoxis was the first to act, it counted as a "blind call", so Charette raised to 26,000. The action folded around to Varoxis who called, but he quickly folded after Charette fired another barrel worth 32,000 on the flop of {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Updated Chip Counts

The new counts are in and it appears that Simon Charette has edged out further in front of Waki Waki and Ben Delaney, while Leo Boxell is in the middle of the pack with Kosta Varoxis and Josh Tekesky bringing up the rear.

Small Ball!

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

The first couple of hands have been relatively sedate since we've come back from the dinner break, but Simon Charette and Waki Waki have picked up some valuable chips nonetheless.

In the first hand, the action folded around to Kosta Varoxis who raised to 18,000 from the cutoff before Charette reraised to 41,000 from the button, forcing Varoxis to fold.

Then, in the very next hand, the action folded around to Waki Waki who limped in from the button. Ben Delaney completed the small blind, but Leo Boxell made it 33,000 to go from the big blind. Waki called and Delaney got out of the way before both Boxell and Waki checked down the flop and turn of {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

The dealer then produced the {J-Spades} on the river, Boxell checked, but he quickly sent his hand into the muck after Waki fired out a bet. Yay, poker!

Slow Going ...

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

We've been hard-pressed to find any action here as the action continues here on the final table of the $2,200 No Limit Hold'em Six Handed event.

All we can report is that we've seen three flops in the last 30 minutes. Simon Charette raised to 13,500 from the cutoff and Ben Delaney called from the small blind before check-folding to Charette's bet of 16,000 on the flop of {Q-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

Then Delaney raised to 12,000 and Leo Boxell called before he check-folded to Delaney's bet of 17,000 on the flop of {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Soon after, Delaney and Charette went heads-up to a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Charette check-folded to Delaney's bet. Exciting stuff.

Jitter Transfer?

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Simon Charette - jitterbug?
Simon Charette - jitterbug?

Delaney has been quite active on the final table raising and re-raising a lot of hands. However, it now appears he has caught a case of Charette's final table jitters.

After raising pre-flop to 13,500 and getting just one caller out of the big blind in Kosta Varoxis, they both checked down to the river a board of {Q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Varoxis tabled {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Delaney simply mucked.

A few hands later, Charette opened to 13,500 and Waki Waki made the call before Delaney opted to three-bet to 54,000. Action folded around to Charette who after some deliberation 4-bet to 135,000. Both Waki Waki and Ben Delaney folded their hands rather swiftly and those final table jitters now appear to have eased.
