How The Day Will Start

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

As more and more players file into the poker room to find their seats we thought we would take this opportunity to discuss how the day will start.

Blinds will be kicking off at 50/100 with levels lasting 40 minutes throughout the day. Their will be a 10,000 chip stack for the players to masterfully maneuver.

Tables will obviously only feature 6 players so expect the chips to be flying fast as the agression is rolled out to protect those stacks.

Welcome again to Crown Casino for continuing coverage of the 2011 Aussie Millions, with the spotlight today being on Event 6: $1,100 No Limit Holdem 6 Handed!

The action in the poker room is really starting to heat up as more and more players arrive in Melbourne looking to take their shot at a championship ring after 4 have been awarded over the last seven days and with another awarded this evening as the Event 5: $1,100 8-Game Mixed final table is played out today at 4p.m EST.

But today the focus will be on the sixth event, with the popular short-handed format played down to only one as yet another Aussie Millions champion is crowned.

There will be no defending champion taking to the felt today, not because they are too busy as to make an appearance, but as this is a new event on the schedule.

The last few years have offered at least one 6-max event but due to the growing popularity of the format, the 2011 Aussie Millions is happy to offer two events of this kind with a $2,200 event of the same kind offered late next week, with players taking this event as an opportunity to hone their skills and ready themselves for more short-handed action later in the series.

Winner of the 6-Max event from last year, Kristian Lunardi will be an almost definite to make an appearance, while with the popularity of short-handed play starting it’s growth on the virtual felt, the field will likely draw some of the best online players in town to dominate the live poker scene.

Be sure to stay tuned to the PokerNews Live Reporting Team as we bring you all the big lay-downs, failed bluffs and bad beat stories from event 6 at the 2011 Aussie Millions.
