Topakas Toppled by Phillips

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Steve Topakas opened to a raise to 3,200, but threw out a yellow 5,000-denomination chip and two 100-denomination chips.

Carter Phillips - assuming it was a raise to 5,200 - made that call before the dealer deemed his chips in the pot to be a raise. Topakas pushed and Phillips made the call to put the local tournament regular at risk.

Topakas: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Phillips: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}

With Topakas in the lead, the {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop was a safe one for him, but when the {J-Spades} spiked on the turn, a now standing Topakas kicked his chair as the {A-Spades} completed the board.

"Nice hand!" announced Topakas as he shook his head before making his way to the rail. Phillips is now up to 200,000 in chips.

Levy: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Seal: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} to see Levy sent to the rail courtesy of Seal's rivered three-outer.

Tough Table ... Oh Hell Yeah!

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

In the major tournament area on table twenty-eight we find Mitchell Carle and Joel Cohen.

Doesn't sound like too tough of a table. No offense of course.

Well that's until we introduce the next three players.

Phil Ivey. Patrik Antonius. Howard Lederer.

This is not a level.

On one of the first hands they tangled, Lederer opened with a raise from under the gun with Antonius defending his big blind to see a {10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop fall.

Lederer's 3,500-chip continuation-bet was check-called by Antonius as the {K-Clubs} on the turn was checked through to see the {2-Diamonds} land on the river. Antonius led for 11,000, and after several moments of deliberation, Lederer relinquished.

Serock Chips Up

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a board of {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} with the pot brewing at around 8,000, Joseph Serock led into his opponent with a bet of 7,600.

His opponent made the call tabling his {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}, but it would be Serock's {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} that would see him collect the pot and move to 47,000 in chips.

Boatman Rivers Double

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On a flop of {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Barny Boatman moved all in from the small blind with his opponent from early position making the call.

Boatman: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

With Boatman in desperate need to spike a king or a ten, the turn of the {8-Hearts} changed little before the {10-Hearts} on the river saw Boatman complete his straight to move to 48,000.

Ferguson Knocks One Out

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Team Full Tilt Poker member Chris Ferguson had an opponent all in preflop with the {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. His opponent held the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The player's all-in bet was for nearly all of Ferguson's chips, but the board ran out {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} to keep the jacks good and win Ferguson the hand.

Ferguson's up to about 50,000 now.
