Final Day One Over; Day Two Draws Near

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

After another riveting thirteen hour day, the Aussie Millions Main Event has wrapped it’s final day one flight!

It was 274 entries today which brought the overall field to hefty 721 players , generating a AUD$7,210,000 prizepool and sending the eventual champion home with an AUD$2,000,000 first prize while ensuring two people walk away millionaires, with the runner-up pocketing AUD$1,035,000.

Local hopefuls Josh Barrett, James Obst, Peter Aristidou and Tony Hachem were just a handful of the many who tried and failed to make it through to day two. While leading those who flew thousands of miles to come up short of Main Event glory include Full Tilt Poker Red Pro's James Bord, Matthew Jarvis, Peter Jetten and Simon Watt. Team Full Tilt’s John Juanda and Erik Seidel also failed to make a day two berth.

There were 109 players who survived after day 1c was all said and done, with Charles Chua (163,000), Colin Nicholas (134,900) and Elliot Smith (116,200) leading the way. But it was Australia’s Oliver Keefe who came from out of nowhere to take the chip lead into day two, bagging and tagging a monster 198,200 chips.

Still in the hunt with respectable stacks include David Gorr (91,500), Eugene Katchalov (69,200), Van Marcus (64,500), Kristian Lunardi (57,900) and Mark Vos (34,900).

The above will be joining the likes of international superstars Phil Ivey, Erick Lindgren, Chris Ferguson, Roland de Wolfe, Patrik Antonius and Howard Lederer, along with Aussie heroes Sean Dunwoodie, Martin Drewe, Jarred Graham and Billy Argyros as those in contention with healthy stacks on day two.

It will be a total of 265 players who have stars in their eyes as they wake tomorrow to take to the felt and battle it out for the 72 paying spots and the guaranteed AUD$15,000 cash.
