Jaka Jaka

An unknown player raised to 200 from the hijack and received calls from the cutoff and the button. When action reached Faraz Jaka in the big blind, he moved all in for around 1,000. Apparently Jaka, fresh off a third-place finish at the PCA, isn't afraid to mix it up here in Melbourne as his opponents folded and he showed the mediocre {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

First Hand, First Bust out

Sam Cohen started the tournament on one bullet and she just lost all her chips on the very first hand. With the board reading {10-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Spades} the chips between Cohen and the player to her right went into the middle. Cohen showed {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for the nuts and her opponent turned over {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. The river brought out the {J-Spades} giving her opponent the winning full house. Cohen was the first player to bust out.

A Detailed Look at Todays Event

The plan for today is as following: The first three levels will be 40 minutes, thereafter all levels will be 60 minutes. Rebuys will be available during those first three levels, and players may opt to do so whenever they drop below 1,500 chips. At the end of the rebuy period players can do a single, double or triple add on regardless of their chipstack. $1,000 would give players 1,500, $2,000 for 3,000 and $3,000 for 4,500 in tournament chips.

Things could really interesting here in the first couple of levels! The action will commence shortly.

Ready . . . Take Aim . . . Event #6 $1,100 NLHE w/ Rebuys is About to Begin

With the Tournament of Champions, Main Event, and $100,000 Challenge scheduled to take place this weekend, the biggest names in poker have made their way the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia for the 2012 Aussie Millions Poker Championship. While all of those events will have to wait for a couple days, we expect many of the pros in attendance to take a stab at today's tournament, Event #6 $1,100 NLHE w/ Rebuys.

Last year, this very event attracted 86 entrants, who combined for 255 rebuys and add-ons and created a prize pool of $341,000 AUD. That year's final table consisted of an eclectic mix of players including Eoghan O'Dea, a prelude to his November Nine appearance in the World Series of Poker Main Event; tough Brit, JP Kelly; the amiable Randy Dorfman, who began as chip leader (he would go on to make the final table of the 2011 Aussie Millions final table as chip leader as well); and a local pro by the name of Oliver Speidel.

Both O'Dean and Kelly fell during final-table play, and eventually it was Dorfamn versus Speidel in heads-up action. The American did everything he could to win, but in the end it was the Australian who prevailed. In the last hand, Dorfman opened for 12,000 with {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Speidel, having a 2-1 lead, moved all in holding {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Dorfman made the call and his tournament came to an end when the board ran out {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}.

We've seen both Dorfman and Speidel around the Crown in the past couple days, so we expect they'll be back in action and looking to repeat last year's success. Action is set to kick off in about an hour, so stay tuned to PokerNews for all the action and eliminations from Event #6 $1,100 NLHE w/ Rebuys.
