Jack Ellwood is down to just 150 after his lost out to an opponent's . There seemed to have been a lot of action pre flop before Ellwood bet-called for a small amount more on a board. His opponent thought he was beat but he was good and stayed that way through the turn and river.
Tony Bloom, the 2004 Main Event champion, is the the house and off to a good start. He saw a flop with with three players still involved. His 700 c-bet was only called by 2011 WSOP bracelet winner Tyler Bonkowski.
The board got scarier as it ran out . Both players checked it down and Bloom took the pot with .
We were just walking around the room to see who we could recognize and on our travels bumped into a couple of early all-in plays.
First it was Tom Wing who we found going up against one opponent on a flop showing . This is where Wing had shoved his stack and put his opponent to a decision. The play proved too aggressive for his opponent and Wing took down the small pot.
We were then over on Phil Willcocks' table and he was up against one opponent on a flop showing . Willcocks also put his opponent to a decision and ended up sending those cards into the muck to take down a nice little pot.
A quick stroll around the Crown Poker Room and these are some of the recognizable faces we came across. There are still at least 25 players waiting to register for the event. Also note that late registration will be running for 4 hours today.
Toby Lewis, Chris Brammer, Ashley Mason, and Chris Moorman are four more Brits to take their seats.
The former of these just had to fold on a flop after the big blind cheeck-raised him off the hand.
The latter two of these have been trying to get to Australia for seems like forever. They missed three flights (not their fault) en route from the PCA in the Bahamas. They're actions junkies so the jet-lag will have to take a back seat, for now.
The Brits always love a trip down under and they also like a bit of six-max action. Notables we’ve spotted registering or taking their seats include: Roberto Romanello, Sam Holden, David Vamplew, Rubert Elder, Tom Middleton, Jack Ellwood, Ben Jenkins, and James Dempsey. There’s three EPT winners, two WPT winners, a WSOP bracelet holder, and a November Niner amongst that small bunch.
Welcome back to the Crown Poker Room for continued coverage of the 2012 Aussie Millions! Today we will be felt side for all the action of Event 5: $1,100 NLH 6 Handed.
Last year this event drew 373 runners and after two long days of poker, Tim O'Shea and Daniel Neilson were the last two players standing. In the end it was O'Shea who proved too good, taking down the gold ring and the $81,370 to go along with it.
Today's event is set to draw a similar crowd and PokerNews will be here from 12.30 pm as we embark on crowning another Aussie Millions champion.
