The Croc Gets Swallowed Up

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante
Billy Argyros
Billy Argyros

We happened by Table 32 and discovered Billy "The Croc" Argyros was all in for 20,700. His opponent, Team Online's Randy Lew, had 10,300 out in front of him and was debating whether or not he wanted to call the additional 10,400. He decided that he did and the cards were turned up.

Argyros: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Lew: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Argyros got it in good, but there was a king in the window when the flop came out {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Neither the {J-Diamonds} turn nor {4-Spades} river helped "The Croc," and he wished the table luck before taking his leave from the tournament.

Second Pair Good for Rubie

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante

Australia Pro Brendan Rubie raised out of the cutoff, John Juanda defended his big blind, and the flop fell {j-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {2-Clubs}, Juanda led out for 7,200, and Rubie tossed in the call. The two knuckled once more after the {9-Diamonds} completed the board, and Juanda showed {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a rivered pair of nines.

Rubie revealed {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a pair of jacks, winning the hand.

Gabriele Wins a Flip

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante

Matthew Gabriele had an opponent all-in and at risk for around 70,000 moments ago, and was flipping with {j-}{j-} against the opponent's {a-}{k-}. The flop produced all blanks, and it was all over when the turn was a {j-}.

Gabriele shipped the pot, recording the knockout and bringing his stack up to 375,000 chips.

Duhamel Drops Some

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante

A short-stacked player was all in and at risk moments ago for 32,000 against Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel. The player's {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades} was crushed by Duhamel's {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}, but found a six on the {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop.

The pair of sixes held up after the turn ({3-Spades}) and the river ({5-Clubs}), and the player doubled to nearly 70,000.

Duhamel is still well above average with 310,000 chips.

Cabret on Life Support

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante

One year ago, Joseph Cabret finished runner-up in this very event. He obviously has high hopes of finishing one spot better this year, but a recent hand has jeopardized those plans.

We're not sure of the action, but we do know that Cabret was left with just 35,000 after he doubled an opponent. When the money went in escaped us, but we do know that Cabret held the {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs} on a {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} board while his opponent had the {q-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante

Before break, a short-stacked Oliver Gill was all in and at risk preflop for 3,700. Two players had him at risk, and they both checked down a board of {10-Spades}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Gill showed {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a full house, and tripled up.

Esfandiari Approaching 300K

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 3,000 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

After a raise from middle position and a call from the hijack seat, Antonio Esfandiari called from the cutoff seat to see the flop come down {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. The first two players checked, and then Esfandiari bet 6,600. The first player called, and the second player folded.

The turn was the {K-Clubs}, and the first player checked over to Esfandiari. After reaching for chips, Esfandiari fired 9,400. His opponent folded, and Esfandiari scooped up the pot to move near 300,000 in chips.
