Suchanek Leaps into Lead

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Jan Suchanek
Jan Suchanek

Just before the break Jan Suchanek won a monster pot to take over the chip lead.

One player was all in and around 28,000 had made it into the middle by the time a {7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop had appeared. The side pot was dry but was soon wet with chips after Suchanek called the third party's 12,750 bet.

The turn came as the {j-Spades} and the same player jammed for an effective 40,600. Suchanek gave it some thought and called all in with {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. His opponent gave out a cry of disbelief at the call as he could only muster {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and the all in player opened pocket sixes. The board completed with the {9-Diamonds} and Suchanek celebrated as he left one opponent eliminated and another with less than 5,000.

Smith's Heart Pounding, Stack Dropping

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Elliot Smith must know his neck pulses as he's wearing a small scarf to cover it up. He was involved in a hand just now and his pulse was that strong that the scarf was moving in time and almost acting as an amplifier for the pulse.

The pot was contested heads up and Smith eventually bailed on the river to drop to 26,000. He raised to 1,200 from the cut off and was called only by the button en route to a {2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop where he continued for 1,500. Call.

The turn was the {k-Hearts} and Smith checked to face a 1,750 bet. Before he called his opponent said, "I told you I always have the best hand when the reporters are here!"

The river came as the {10-Clubs} and Smith snap folded when faced with a 2,800 bet.

Rastogi is Hard to Shake

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Rahul Rastogi opened for 1,200 under the gun and cleared the field all the way to the player in the small blind, who put in a three-bet to 3,800. The big blind folded, Rastogi made a quick called, and the flop fell {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

The small blind led out for 3,000, Rastogi called, and the dealer promptly burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}. The small blind bet again, this time 8,500, and against Rastogi just called. When the {5-Spades} completed the board on the river, the small blind slowed down with a check and Rastogi mimicked the action.

"Ace high," the small blind admitted before showing the {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Rastogi then tabled the {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for top pair and the win.

Boeree Cracks Aces to Double Through Mackoff

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

With around 10,000 already in the pot and a board reading {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, Liv Boeree moved all in for her last 9,100 and Jonas Mackoff, who won a preliminary event here at the 2015 Aussie Millions, thought for a bit before making the call.

Mackoff: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Boeree: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Mackoff had the granddaddy of all hands, but in this spot it was second best as Boeree had flopped trips and turned a flush draw. The {8-Clubs} river completed the said flush, and a disappointed Mackoff sent some chips over to the former EPT Sanremo champ.

The 2012 Aussie Millions Champ Falls

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Oliver Speidel
Oliver Speidel

Back in 2012, Oliver Speidel topped a field of 659 players to win the Aussie Millions Main Event for AU$1.6 million. Speidel has returned the past three years seeking to capture the title for a second time, but he's fallen short of the money each time.

For 2015, Speidel's demise came at the hands of Marc MacDonnell, who filled us in on the details after the fact. According to MacDonnell, he had opened for 900 from early position and another player called. When action reached Speidel in the big blind, he shoved all in for his last 8,000 and MacDonnell called, which prompted the other player to fold.

Speidel held {a-}{j-} and was racing for his tournament life against MacDonnell's {10-}{10-}. Unfortunately for Speidel, who also won the 2011 Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event in Manila for $50,405, the board ran out dry and his Main Event came to an abrupt end.

Lisandro Holds True in a Race

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Jeff Lisandro's pair managed to hold up against the big-slick of an opponent and he saw his stack rise to 67,000.

The multiple WSOP bracelet holder opened from under the gun and then made a considered call after an opponent three-bet all in for 16,225 from mid position.

Lisandro's pocket tens had nothing to fear on the {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades} board.
