Townsend Doubles Through Fish

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Karam Bahi and Ben Heptinstall are nowhere to be found anymore and Dale Townsend almost ended up on the bustout list as well. He got the last 15,700 chips in with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and was called by Darryll Fish with {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}. However, lady luck came to the rescue to save the Aussie on a board of {10-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

While many others would have been upset and showed this after losing a flip towards the end of the day, Fish sat there motionless, focused and moved straight to the next hand without any reaction.

Rawlins on a Roll

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

In the previous hand, Travis Rawlins had folded pocket kings based on the action and then a short stack moved all in for 11 big blinds. Rawlins shoved out of the small blind and then flipped over the {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. The player at risk only held {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and the board {7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} brought no surprises.

Six Tables in the Exhibition Hall

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Table number seven, that previously included Xuan Liu and Van Marcus, just broke and both headed for a new home. Marcus found himself over on table one and that is also where Kevin Blackwood can be found. For the first time in many levels, Marcus is no longer the biggest stack despite adding some change over the past half an hour.

Australian Hall of Famer Boxell Busts

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Leo Boxell
Leo Boxell

From late position, Australian Poker Hall of Famer Leo Boxell moved all in for 22,900 and John Thomson called from two seats over. All other players folded and Boxell was in bad shape with the {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. The river was the {5-Clubs} and initially let Boxell celebrate, but he had already been drawing dead to outright win the pot until the {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} turn.

Once he realized what had happened, Boxell tapped the table and wished everyone good luck.

Farrell Contends

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Nial Farrell
Nial Farrell

Niall Farrell is now among the bigger stacks left in the flight after taking a huge pot off Ryan Paton with a river shove.

We missed all the action, but turned up to see Farrell all in for around 80,000 with 80,000 in the pot already on a {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Hearts} board.

Paton tanked for a good two minutes before open-folding {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} thinking top two wasn't good enough. Farrell mucked and stacked.

Welcome to the World, Baby Sheary

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On Day 1C, Katrina Sheary played while being heavily pregnant and got through the day with a stack of 38,500 chips. The Crown Casino just reached the news that Sheary gave birth this very morning and an exception is being made. Her partner, who has not played in the tournament yet, will be allowed to come in as substitute tomorrow for Day 2.

Congratulations to Katrina and her family!

Fish Gets One

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

From middle position, a short stack moved all in for 12,300 chips and Darryll Fish also announced all in from late position to isolate successfully with the slightly bigger stack.

Opponent: {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Fish: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and the kicker played a crucial role to determine the winner of the hand, shipping the pot to Fish. The American moved close to the current average with one hour remaining in Flight 4.
