Back In Black

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Aussie Rob Black has it within inches of 100,000, but his momentum has been halted by a game of musical chairs he appears to be playing with the tournament staff as of late.

He was on the right end of a kings over queens set up midway through the day and saw his stack soar when he got it in with {a-}{k-} versus {a-}{10-} a little later.

However, he's been unable to play a hand over the last level thanks to the fact he's been moved three times in ten minutes.

"Bye Bye Chips"

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Joseph Vinecombe was all in for 10 big blinds only and flipped over {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} in the showdown. Jessica Liang flipped against him with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and was left drawing dead on the turn despite hitting the {Q-Diamonds}. It was the flop {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} that had done all damage, making both remaining community cards more or less meaningless.

After the hand was over, Liang smiled and let out "bye bye Chips."

Not Much Happening

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Only two players hold 100,000 chips or more in the Exhibition Hall with seven tables remaining and there hasn't been any crazy action at the tables as of lately. Xuan Liu lost chips and gained some back after raising to 2,700 twice in a row. The first hand he folded to a shove for 30 big blinds, then Van Marcus defended his big blind.

On the flop {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, Marcus check-called a bet of 3,000 before both checked the {2-Diamonds} turn. On the {8-Spades} river, Marcus checked again and then snap folded to Liu's bet worth 9,000.

Paton's Place

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Aussie Ryan Paton was nearly felted in the early part of the day.

Things turned around when he flopped a straight, got it in three ways versus top pair and a flush draw, and held to triple up.

In a battle of the blinds a little later, he flopped an open-ender, and when a {k-} turned to make his straight, it also gave his opponent top pair.

He got it in on the river and got called to drag another huge pot. As play moves into the late stages here in Flight 4, Paton appears to be on the top of the counts.

Wang Loses Flip

Davor Derek opened to 3,300 and Wenlin Wang three-bet all in for 9,000 with the {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Derek called with {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and won the flip after a board of {4-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}. The Chinese headed to the rail and many others have done so recently, as the field has been reduced to only 180 participants.

Marcus Still Thriving

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Xuan Liu's previous table broke and she had been moved to the table of Van Marcus. The Australian Poker Hall of Famer has been very active since and consistently increased the stack without many major showdowns. Just now, Liu opened to 2,700 and was called one way before Marcus three-bet to 9,200 in the small blind.

All opponents including the Canadian folded and Marcus grabbed the pot.

Zhang, Bang, Thank You Mang

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Aussie Guangqi Zhang has crested the 100,000-chip mark heading into the last three levels.

His big move came courtesy of a massive pot where he got it in with the {a-Hearts}{j-} versus the {A-}{k-Hearts} on a {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop.

The turn came a {10-} to give him the straight and a heart on the river made it flush over flush.

Updated Counts

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Darryll Fish confirmed that Jesse Sylvia has been eliminated. Former big stack Dale Townsend is no longer above average anymore either. He just open-raised to 2,900 and then folded to a shove to leave himself with 15 big blinds.
