Wakeman and Rao with Even Stacks

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Joining the action on the heads-up flop {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, Matthew Wakeman fired a bet of 152,000 out of the big blind and Aditya Rao called from early position. The {Q-Clubs} came on the turn and now Wakeman made it 172,000 to go. Rao gave it some brief consideration and folded. Both players are now within a single big blind.

King Doubles with Kings

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Phachara Wongwichit raised from under the gun and then called the shove of Navid King for a mere 106,000 in total, five big blinds.

King: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Wongwichit: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

King immediately paired his king on the flop {K-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and the {9-Spades} turn and {10-Hearts} river were just a formality. Trips king for King, who may still become the king of this tournament.

Blackwood Busts Gao; Takes Lead

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Jie Gao
Jie Gao

Jie Gao moved all in for his last 89,000 and Kevin Blackwood flat-called from the cutoff. On the button, Michael Seymour also called and everyone else folded. The flop came {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Blackwood quickly shoved, resulting in a seemingly painful fold from Seymour.

Gao: {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Blackwood: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

Neither the {6-Clubs} on the turn nor the {6-Diamonds} on the river changed anything and Gao was sent to the rail in 22nd place while Blackwood shot to the top of the leader board.

Salsberg Weeded Out

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Matt Salsberg
Matt Salsberg

Matt Salsberg shipped the button for some 160,000 and Jacob Elmore Dahl re-shipped from the small blind for more.

The big blind passed and the cards were revealed.

Salsberg: {k-Spades}{9-Spades}
Dahl: {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} with Salsberg asking for a {k-Diamonds} that never came. With that, he's gone.

Zizic Doubles with Queens

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

From the cutoff, Sean Giesbrecht raised to 40,000 and Tatjana Zizic moved all in for 160,000. Phachara Wongwichit opted to isolate from the small blind and that got Giesbrecht to fold.

Zizic: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}
Wongwichit: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

The flop {2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Clubs} was a great one for Zizic, as the last woman in the field made top set and virtually locked up the hand. It was guaranteed by the time the {7-Clubs} came on the turn and the {7-Hearts} river improved Zizic to a full house.

Aydogan Shows Bluff

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Sinan Aydogan and Matthew Wakeman checked the flop {3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Hearts}. On the {Q-Clubs} turn, Aydogan bet 50,000 and Wakeman called before Aydogan fired 150,000 on the {3-Hearts} river. Wakeman let go and was shown the bluff by his opponent with {5-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Break!

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

They are down to 23 remaining and some details will follow, but for now the remaining players are off on a 15-minute break.

Wayne Brindley Eliminated in 24th Place ($7,575)

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Wayne Brindley
Wayne Brindley

Wayne Brindley moved all in for just over 100,000 chips and the action folded around to Ferenc Riech in the big blind. He checked both hole cards and then made the call, flashing over {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

Brindley flipped with the {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and found an open-ended straight draw on the flop {8-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Instead, the {3-Hearts} turn and {6-Hearts} river gave Riech a flush and the start-of-the-day chip leader sent his opponent to the rail in 24th place.

Peter Sheary Eliminated in 25th Place ($6,495)

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Peter Sheary
Peter Sheary

Phachara Wongwichit opened to 33,000 and the action folded around to Peter Sheary in the big blind. He came as replacement in for Katrina, who played the first day and then had just given birth, and peeked at his cards. Pleased to find something with just 60,000 chips remaining, Sheary moved all in and Wingwichit called.

Sheary: {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Wongwichit: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

There was no help on the board {A-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and that sent the Aussie to the rail in 25th place.
