Check Raise the Turn

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Fedor Holz opened the button for 7,500 and Ivey gave up from the small blind. John Juanda in the big blind made the call.

Both players checked on {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Juanda checked again on the {4-Clubs} turn. Holz made a bet of 5,000 and Juanda check raised to 16,500 without blinking an eye. Holz called.

The river came the {10-Diamonds} and Juanda checked. Holz was quick to check behind. Juanda showed {K-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a full house which got worth way less because of the river, but it was still good as Holz mucked.

Lichtenberger Busts His Second Bullet

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Up at the feature table, action folded to Andrew Lichtenberger on the button and he raised to 5,600. Connor Drinan responded by three-betting to 15,000 from the small blind, and after Steve O'Dwyer folded from the big, Lichtenberger jammed for 76,400 total. Drinan snap-called.

Drinan: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Lichtenberger: {a-}{j-}

Lichtenberger had a big kicker problem, and it failed to get resolved on the {7-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. The {8-Hearts} turn gave Lichtenberger a flush draw, but it failed to come in as the {2-Spades} blanked on the river.

Kurganov Finally Gains Some Traction

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Igor Kurganov has had a rough day having busted this tournament three times already. He jumped in a fourth time, and if this hand is any indication it seems he may finally be headed in the right direction.

It began when Martin Jacobson opened for 7,000 under the gun and Kurganov three-bet to 17,000. Action folded back to Jacobson, who moved all in, and Kurganov snap-called off for 80,400.

Kurganov: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Jacobson: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Kurganov held the goods and he was rewarded when the board ran out a clean {7-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

McDonald Loses Some to Quoss

Level 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The last hand before the level up saw Fabian Quoss open under the gun to 5,500. Mike McDonald in the big blind was the only caller. McDonald check called a bet of 6,000 on {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{K-Spades} before they both checked on the {J-Clubs} on the turn. The river came the {10-Hearts} and McDonald checked again. Quoss made a bet of 19,000 and McDonald called, only to muck upon seeing Quoss' {J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}.

Eights Full of Jacks

Level 7 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Igor Kurganov raised to 5,300 under the gun and Martin Jacobson called from the big blind. Both players checked after the flop fell {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and then Kurganov called a bet of 4,000 from Jacobson on the {8-Clubs} turn. When the {J-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Jacobson bet 10,000 and Kurganov called only to muck when his Swedish opponent rolled over the {j-Spades}{3-Spades} for eights full of jacks.

McDonald Doubles Juanda

Level 7 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

John Juanda raised to 6,000 from early position and Mike McDonald three-bet to 15,000 from the cutoff. Action folded back around to Juanda and he moved all in for 63,200. McDonald made the call.

John Juanda: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Mike McDonald: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Juanda doubled to 132,400. McDonald still has 243,000 left.

Rast Eliminates Urbanovich

Level 7 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Dzmitry Urbanovich
Dzmitry Urbanovich

Brian Rast raised to 5,500 from the hijack and Dzmitry Urbanovich in the cutoff right next to him shoved all in for 48,100. The button and both blinds folded and the decision was back on Rast. Rast asked the dealer to pull in the 5,500 from Urbanovich' all in, and called as soon as he found out it was 42,600 for him to call.

Dzmitry Urbanovich: {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Brian Rast: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop wasn't a good one for Urbanovich but the {9-Clubs} on the turn gave him a bunch of new outs. The {10-Spades} on the river wasn't one of the cards he was looking for though, and Urbanovich made his exit.

Level 7 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

David Peters busted on one of the outer tables and bought straight back in.
