Peters with Another Set

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Igor Kurganov raised to 22,000 from middle position holding the {k-Spades}{10-Spades} and David Peters called from the big blind with the {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Both players checked the {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, and then Peters led out for 40,000 when he turned a set on the {4-Clubs} turn. Kurganov called and then ended up folding when Peters bet the {7-Spades} river.

Kaverman Lets Peters Get There

In the last hand of the level, Byron Kaverman opened for 18,000 from early position holding the {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and David Peters called from middle position with the {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The rest of the field folded and it was heads-up action to the {2-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop.

Kaverman checked top pair, Peters checked back, and then action repeated itself on the {9-Diamonds} turn. When the {5-Clubs} spiked on the river, Kaverman bet 35,000 and Peters, who took the lead with a set, thought for a bit before raising to 96,000. Kaverman spent many minutes in the tank, and ended up paying off his opponent.

Kurganov Hits the River

Level 8 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

From the hijack seat, Byron Kaverman raised to 18,000 with the {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Igor Kurganov made the call from he big blind with the {J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, and the flop came down {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Both players checked, and the turn was the {9-Hearts}. Kurganov led with a bet of 35,000, and Kaverman called with top pair.

The river was the {J-Diamonds} to improve Kurganov to the best hand. He checked, and Kaverman checked behind, giving Kurganov the pot.

Full House for Quoss

Level 8 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Fabian Quoss
Fabian Quoss

Igor Kurganov raised to 18,000 from under the gun with the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. Byron Kaverman called from the cutoff seat with the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}, David Peters called on the button with the {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}, and Fabian Quoss called from the big blind with the {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

The flop was {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} to give Quoss a full house. He checked, Kurganov checked his flush draw, and then Kaverman bet 27,000. Peters folded, Quoss took his time then raised to 100,000, and Kurganov called. Kaverman folded his overpair, and it was Quoss versus Kurganov.

The turn was the {A-Hearts}, which meant Kurganov was drawing dead. Quoss took his time, then bet 100,000. Kurganov tanked for a couple very long minutes, then folded in the end, and Quoss won the pot.

Rast Bows Out in 10th to Set Up Final Table

Level 8 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

Igor Kurganov raised to 18,000 under the gun. Brian Rast then three-bet all in for 67,000 when action folded to him in the small blind, and Kurganov called to put him at risk.

Kurganov: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Rast: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Rast got it in good, but he fell behind on the {3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop. Neither the {8-Hearts} turn nor {7-Hearts} river helped him, and Rast was eliminated in 10th place. The final nine players will now combine down to a single table.
