Trevallion Gets a Fold

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We just caught Alex Trevallion all in for his tournament life on the turn, and a friendly player at the table was kind enough to recap the action for us.

A player limped in early position after which Trevallion raised to 700 in the hijack, and the player in the big blind three-bet to 3,000. Trevallion was the only caller, and the flop brought out {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

The player in the big blind bet 6,000 on the flop and Trevallion called, putting the {7-Spades} on the turn. The big blind now checked, and Trevallion moved all in for 23,900. After a while the clock was called on the player in the big blind, who ended up folding with just a few seconds left showing {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}.

Trevallion mucked his cards and raked in the pot.

Ace-Jack No Good For Salter

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We just noticed that Jack Salter's no longer in the tournament, and the players at his former table explained to us what happened.

Apparently Salter squeeze for 2,200 after which the initial raiser put him all in for a total of about 10,000 chips. Salter called it off holding ace-jack, and that was not enough versus the ace-king of his opponent.

Set for Katchalov

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

After his opponent checked the {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} board, Team PokerStars Pro member Eugene Katchalov bet 1,200. His opponent called, and the river was the {2-Clubs}. The first player fired 2,600, and Katchalov called.

After seeing his opponent turn over a bluff with the {5-Clubs}{2-Spades}, Katchalov showed the {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a set of fours and won the pot.

Sweet Start for Liu

Xuan Liu
Xuan Liu

Xuan Liu's off to a great start on Day 1a, as she's already up to 48,000 chips right now. We just saw a player raise to 500 and Liu called from the big blind, putting {8-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Hearts} out on the flop.

Both players checked on the flop and the turn brought the {K-Hearts}.

Liu lead out on the turn for 800 and her opponent called, and the river brought the {7-Spades} Liu bet another 3,000 but this time she didn't get called.

Karamalikis Starts Good and Aims High

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante
Jonathan Karamilikis
Jonathan Karamilikis

We just spotted one of Australia's most successful poker players, Jonathan Karamalikis seated on the upper deck of the room with about 41,000 chips after winning an early pot.

A player raised to 500 from the hijack and Karamalikis three-bet from the button to 1,200 after which the small blind and initial raiser called.

The flop brought out {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts} and the action was checked to Karamalikis who bet 1,400 and only the player on his right called.

On the turn the {K-Diamonds} hit and now both players checked, putting the {3-Clubs} on the river. The player in the hijack now lead out for 2,600 and the man from Adelaide gave it some thought before putting in a raise to 6,400. Karamalikis' opponent folded rather quickly, and the Aussie pro is already up to 41,000 chips.

Karamalikis clearly feels confident on home turf, judging by a Tweet he sent out involving a guessing competition regarding the underwear brand he launched in 2015. The number six on the Australian all-time money list has quite a bit of work to do before bagging up 232,000 chips, but at least he's off to a good start.
