Zhang Cracks Aces

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

The flop just showed {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Spades} when Cankai Zhang got his opponent all in for about 22,000 chips, and the showdown went as following.

Zhang: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

The board ran out {K-Hearts}, {9-Hearts} and Zhang knocked a player out in the early goings of this Main Event.

Cohen Plays Bad, But Not THAT Bad

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

"I've got like three texts from people asking me why I three-barreled on that earlier hand," Sam Cohen said with a smile, as she was still in the middle of a hand. Cohen referred to the only post we've written about her today, but we only reported on the river action, not mentioning any prior betting.

The hand that was ongoing went as following, but it wasn't nearly as exciting as what transpired afterwards.

A player raised to 600 and both blinds, including Cohen in the big blind, made the call. The flop brought out {7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and all three players checked, putting the {9-Clubs} on the turn. The small blind checked again, and Cohen bet 1,200.

The initial raiser called, and after the small blind folded the river brought the {A-Clubs}. Cohen casually threw out one chip worth 5,000 and after a while her opponent folded.

Cohen, who chipped up to around 50,000 chips, asked yours truly for a pen and paper to write down the following, and we quote.

"Please disregard earlier posts about Sam Cohen as she probably did play the hands badly, but not as badly as was reported," Cohen's written statement said, as she wanted to clear up not having fired three barrels on the hand she lost earlier today.

Cohen got a good chuckle out of getting texts about a hand she played, which she not only didn't play it the way her friends thought it went, it also wasn't even reported that way.

Obst Starts Out Swinging, MacPhee Enters

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We just saw a board of {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} on which two players checked to James Obst, one of Australia's most prolific online players, and he bet 5,700.

After a bit of tanking, Obst got two folds and picked up another pot to boost his stack to right around 84,000.

Right after winning this hand, Obst welcomed a very tough opponent as Kevin MacPhee sat down.

MacPhee, winner of the most recent WSOP Europe Main Event and previous EPT Berlin winner, starts with a fresh stack worth 30,000 on his way to a possible first live cash in Australia.

More For Karamalikis

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Jonathan Karamalikis just told us a hand he managed to win, boosting his stack to 53,000. Karamalikis raised to 500 and the player on his left called, after which the big blind called as well.

The flop brought out {Q-}{8-}{5-} with two hearts and one diamond, and Karamalikis bet 800 after the big blind checked. The player on Karamalikis' left called, and the big blind folded.

The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and now Karamalikis bet 2,000, only to get raised to 5,000 by his opponent. The Aussie pro called and on the river a black six hit the felt. Both players checked and Karamalikis won the hand showing pocket kings versus the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of his opponent.
