A Few More Counts

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Aces Propel Davies to a Double

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Scott Davies, who won the 2014 WSOP APAC Main Event here at Crown, opened for 2,300 only to have an opponent push back to the tune of 6,100. Not to be outdone, Davies four-bet all in for 32,900 and his opponent snap-called.

Davies: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Davies was on the good end of the cooler, and he was rewarded with a double after the board ran out {q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

Defending Champ's Freeroll Comes to an End

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Tyron Krost
Tyron Krost

Back at the 2012 Aussie Millions, Tyron Krost won the Tournament of Champions Event — which invited all former Aussie Millions winners to an invite-only freeroll. As a result, he won free buy-ins to the Aussie Millions Main Event for life.

Krost cashed in on it a year later when he finished 41st in the 2013 Aussie Million for AU$20,000. He was looking to add some more off the freeroll, but his attempt just came to an end at the hands of Benjamin Pollak.

We missed the elimination as it happened, but according to a player at the table Krost busted after a preflop raising war saw him get his stack all in holding pocket jacks against Pollak's kings. The board ran out clean and the 2010 champ hit the rail.

Final Nail Put in Schiffbauer's Coffin

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Rob Schiffbauer
Rob Schiffbauer

We missed Rob Schiffbauer's final hand, but 2014 World Series of Poker APAC Main Event champ Scott Davies, who had been seated to Schiffbauer's direct left, was kind enough to fill us in on the details.

As he told it, a player had opened with a standard raise and Schiffbauer three-bet all in for roughly 15,000. The original raiser called with ace-king, which was well out in front of Schiffbauer's ace-eight. The flop contained a king, and that was the end of Schiffbauer's 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event.

Bruning's Set Holds

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On the {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, Richard Bruning and his {2-Spades}{2-Hearts} had an opponent all in with the {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The turn was the {8-Hearts}, and the river was the {9-Hearts}, both of which missed Bruning's opponent.

Convey Eliminated

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

European Poker Media Personality of the Year, Marc Convey, has just been knocked out. Convey moved all in for 16,400 holding {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, and he got called by the initial raiser, who tabled {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

The board brought no help, and Convey was knocked out from his first ever Aussie Millions Main Event.

"Sometimes You've Got to Dance With the Girl You Get"

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Billy "The Croc" Argyros had been nursing a short stack of under 4,000, but his time in the tournament just came to an end at the hand of Paul James.

It happened when Argyros got his short stack all in preflop holding the {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs} only to run into the {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} of James. The board ran out {7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, meaning James' kicker just barely came into play. It was enough though to send one of the Australia's most colorful characters to the rail.

"Sometimes you've got to dance with the girl you get," the Croc offered as his final words.
