Abernathy Loses a 1.4 Million Pot

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Samantha Abernathy
Samantha Abernathy

Yuki Ko raised the button and Samantha Abernathy made the call from the big blind. Abernathy checked the flop of {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, and called Ko's 55,000 bet.

The {J-Spades} fell on the turn and Abernathy checked again. Ko made a bet of 135,000 with 467,000 behind. Abernathy didn't waste all that much time shoving all in.

Ko had a big decision and wasn't too thrilled about calling all in, but in the end he did so anyway.

Yuki Ko: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Samantha Abernathy: {K-Spades}{5-Spades}

Abernathy was drawing dead, the {7-Spades} on the river was there just to make things official. Double up for Ko, big hit for Abernathy.

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Tony Dunst raised to 33,000 from the button and Sinan Aydogan called from the big blind. Both players returned to checking on the {10-Diamonds} river and Dunst showed the {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for king high. Aydogan then tabled the {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for the win.

Laurence Hall Eliminated in 27th Place (AU$40,000)

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Laurence Hall
Laurence Hall

Laurence Hall got his last 169,000 chips in the middle holding {Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. He was up against Kitty Kuo who had the {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Hall's rail asked for an eight on the flop and they got what they asked for. It did give Kuo an open ended though: {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

The {10-Clubs} on the turn filled up Kuo's straight and now the rail begged the dealer for a jack. He did not oblige as the {K-Spades} completed the board and Hall made his exit.

"Next year huh?! Thanks guys!" Hall said to the buzzing camera.

He shook hands and fist bumped everyone at the table, and made his way to the pay out desk to collect his AU$40,000.

Michael Doubles Through Lechich

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

We just saw Andrew Michael all in and at risk versus Tino Lechich, in a showdown that went as follows.

Michael: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Lechich: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The flop brought out {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Spades} and Lechich cheered upon seeing the queen. Lechich was also aware of the spade draw, but the turn kept him safe when the {6-Clubs} hit. The river however brought the {10-Spades} and Michael hit a flush to double up.

John Chu - 29th Place
John Chu - 29th Place

Ari Engel opened for 34,000 from the button and John Chu and Jack O'Neill called from the small and big blinds respectively. All three players then checked the {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop, and after the dealer burned and turned the {3-Spades}, Chu checked to O'Neill, who bet 48,000.

Engel flatted, and then Chu woke up with an all-in check-raise to 368,000 total. O'Neill quickly folded and Engel went deep into the tank.

"You want it? You want the action?" Engel asked. "Will you be happy if I give you a bad beat?"

Chu didn't respond, and nearly five minutes passed by, all the while Engel talked alound.

"Please be a flush draw."

"I don't think I can get away from this."

"What do you want me to do?"

"I'm drawing dead as to what to do."

"I need a coin."

A couple more minutes passed before Engel spiked in a call with the {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Chu showed the {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for straight and flush draws.

The dealer burned one last time and put out the {4-Spades} river. Chu missed and Engel was rewarded for his big call.
