Loeser Busts Yan

Level 5 : 400/800, 100 ante

Action folded to Manig Loeser on the button and he opened to 2,000. Small blind [Removed:17] three-bet to 6,700 and Loeser four-bet all in for effectively 25,000 after the big blind had folded. Yan called with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and was well ahead of Loeser's {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} flop, however, made Loeser the heavy favorite and that didn't change after the {4-Clubs} on the turn and {5-Spades} on the river.

Assorted Chip Counts

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Erik Seidel, who took third in this event back in 2013 for A$125,000, Mustapha Kanit and Sylvain Loosli are amongst the newest players to enter.

Muehloecker Wins Small Blind Battle

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Action folded to Yevgeniy Timoshenko in the small blind and he limped in. Big blind Thomas Muehloecker, checked and they both tapped the table as the dealer put out {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} for the gentlemen to work with. The {7-Spades} hit the turn and Timoshenko checked again. Muehloecker bet 700 and Timoshenko called. The {2-Diamonds} completed the board and Timoshenko checked again. Muehloecker bet 3,000 and Timoshenko folded after some time in the tank.

Bullet Point Update

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante
  • Ben Tollere just sat down with a new seat card, no chips and a registration slip. The only logical conclusion is that he busted, bought back in and now has a crisp 50,000 stack to work with again.
  • Max Silver was seen leaving the tournament area. He told us he had two-pair in a hand where one of his opponents had a straight.
  • Amongst the players we just saw for the first time, are high stakes regulars Martin Finger, Anton Astapau and Dario Sammartino.

Carrel Gets There

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

On a flop of {6-Hearts}{A-Spades}{9-Hearts} big blind Charlie Carrel checked. Stephen Chidwick bet 1,200 from the button and was soon facing a check-raise to 4,200 by Carrel. Chidwick called in position before both of them checked the {5-Spades} on the turn and {Q-Spades} on the river. Carrel showed {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Chidwick, after staring at the board for some time, mucked.

Despite Carrel winning and Chidwick losing the minor pot, the roles are reversed if one looks at their chip counts as Chidwick is up a lot for the day while Carrel is (still) down.

Silver Can't Beat Ace-King

Level 4 : 300/600, 75 ante

Action folded around to the small blind and he raised to 1,800. Big blind Max Silver called and called the 2,675 continuation bet that followed on {4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Spades} as well.

The {9-Hearts} hit the turn and the small blind checked. Silver bet 3,200 and his neighbor called just about immediately.

With the {Q-Hearts} completing the board, both players checked. The small blind showed {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} and Silver mucked his cards.

Break

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante

A 15-minute break for the players has just commenced. When they return, the blinds will be 300/600 with a 75-ante. Exactly 100 entries have been made into the event right now.

Aldemir Loses With Queens to Kings

Level 3 : 200/400, 50 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

After a hefty pre-flop battle that saw small bind Koray Aldemir three-bet a button raise to 3,800 and then call the 10,800 four-bet, things got even more intense on {J-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}. Aldemir checked and saw his neighbor on the button bet 15,200. Aldemir tanked for a bit before he shoved all in. The button called for 37,500 total and showed the best hand with {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} as Aldemir tabled {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The {3-Hearts} on the turn and {10-Diamonds} on the river were blanks and Aldemir was heading into the break rather short.
