Howlett Eliminated

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Lance Patison
Lance Patison

On the four-way flop of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Shane Howlett moved all in for his last 10,000 out of the small blind and the big blind called. Fabian Quoss folded from one seat over and so did Szymon Wysocki on the button, exposing his {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

Shane Howlett: {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Big blind: {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

The {3-Hearts} turn and {4-Clubs} river failed to improve Howlett and he was eliminated.

Lance Patison had been moved over to the table of Rory Young, Ana Marquez and Paul Michaelis. Not long after, Patison sent a short stack to the rail when his {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs} held up versus {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} on a board of {J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Michaelis Keeps Running Good

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

Yet another pile of chips has been sent over to Paul Michaelis as the German continues to climb up the leader board late on Day 1b. This time he looked up the check-raise all in of an opponent in the big blind on the {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop. His continuation bet was met by a shove for 14,950 and Michaelis called.

Big blind: {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Paul Michaelis: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

Neither the {4-Spades} turn nor the {A-Clubs} river changed the outcome of the hand and Michaelis raked in the pot. While doing so, the dealer pitched the next cards and one of them landed half-way in the sleeve of his hoodie. "Oh, so that's how you do it," Rory Young from one seat over joked.

David Steicke
David Steicke

From early position, David Steicke open-shoved 10,600 and a player in late position called.

David Steicke: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Late position: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop all but sealed it for Steicke and he said his goodbyes after the {3-Clubs} turn and {2-Spades} river.

"Pretty Sick" Hand Sees Timoshenko Pay Graner Big

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Stephen Graner
Stephen Graner

Four players checked to Stephen Graner on {5-Hearts}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs} and he bet 2,600 in the cutoff. Big blind Yevgeniy Timoshenko called and everyone else folded. The turn was a {2-Hearts} and Graner bet 7,500. Again, Timoshenko called. The river: {9-Clubs}. Timoshenko checked and faced a big bet of 23,000. He took a deep breath.

"That's pretty sick," he said.

Nonetheless, he called in short order but could not beat the {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} shown down by Graner.

Saout Four-Bet Folds Against Yu

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

A player opened and Winfred Yu three-bet to 3,300. It folded to Antoine Saout in the big blind and he four-bet to 9,000. Action back on Yu and he five-bet to 30,100.

Saout thought about his position, and counted out his remaining chips, before folding.

Alner Doubles Through Harder

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Picking up the action on the {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop, Tom Alner checked out of the big blind and Christian Harder bet 1,100 out of middle position. Alner called and checked again the {8-Diamonds} turn before calling a second barrel worth 2,600.

The {10-Clubs} river brought a check from Alner and Harder bet 15,000, which was more than enough to cover the remaining chips of his opponent. Alner called within a second and Harder turned over {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a set, which Alner had beat with {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a straight.

Other notables and big stacks on the table include Tyron Krost, Jan Pettersson and David Tam, and their stack sizes in the penultimate level of the day can be found below.

Foxen Wins a Raising War

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Alex Foxen bet 2,600 from the big blind on a board of {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and his opponent in early position clicked back to 5,200. Foxen responded with another raise to about 9,500 after a minute of thought, and that induced a quick fold.

O'Grady No More; Broom Brushes Christner

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
James Broom
James Broom

A quick look in the corner section of the upper tournament area revealed an open seat that formerly belonged to Michael O'Grady and the Aussie had been called by an opponent with {Q-}{10-} on a seven-high flop as per Scott Davies and other players at the table. O'Grady had pocket treys and a queen appeared right away on the turn.

Christian Christner lost a decent chunk of his stack when paying off the flopped straight of his table neighbour James "Jabba" Broom, who held {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} with the flop showing {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, while Lukas Byrns has reappeared at a different table.
