Young Hits A Set, Soars

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Rory Young has moved up to 78,000, courtesy of a flopped set of fours. On a {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, Young had 4,000 in front of him and his opponent had moved all in for 31,250.

Young, holding {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, took over two minutes and tried to get a read on his opponent, who didn't respond to his antics. Eventually, Young committed the call and was miles ahead against his opponent's {A-Spades}{6-Spades}.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} to improve the straight draw but the {Q-Diamonds} on the river wasn't one of the outs. While Young was stacking up the chips, table mates asked Young about his thought process in the hand. Young admitted he was very close to folding.

Graner Calls Down Timoshenko

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a turn of {3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} Yevgeniy Timoshenko bet 750 and Stephen Graner called. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Timoshenko continued for 4,000. Graner called and Timoshenko was forced to turned over {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for nine-high.

Graner showed {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a rivered flush and took down the pot.

"The overbet only works for you, huh?" Timoshenko said to an opponent as he counted out the rest of his chips.

Benoit Knocks Out Sinclair

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Benjamin Benoit and Jack Sinclair were seated next to each other today and had already clashed in multiple pots. Their latest and final confrontation left the Brit empty-handed and moved Benoit up to the 100k mark.

In a button against small blind confrontation, Benoit (SB) bet 3,100 on an {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop. Sinclair raised to 9,000, Benoit three-bet to 26,100, Sinclair shoved all in and Benoit called to create a pot of over 90k. Benoit had Sinclair barely covered.

Jack Sinclair: {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Benjamin Benoit: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The two hands were nearly identical in equity, with Benoit as a small mathematical favorite. Sinclair held the lead on the flop but needed to dodge a plethora of bad cards. The {3-Hearts} on the turn improved the Frenchman to a flush and the {K-Hearts} on the river ended it for Sinclair.

A Reminder for Tam

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With some 12,000 in the middle and the completed board showing {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, David Tam bet 8,500 and his sole opponent on the button was in the think tank for quite some time. Eventually, the fold followed and Tam raked in the pot before being approached by tournament staff. Apparently, his bet could have been considered as string bet as pointed out by other players at the table.

"I only counted out my chips and didn't say anything," Tam swore and received another reminder about the betting etiquette. Tam sits just above two times the starting stack while Christian Harder on the same table has fewer than the initial chips.

"Why Not a Value-Bet?"

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

We found Ken Demlakian all in from middle position for about 15,000 effective, the size of the pot. The community had come {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Hearts}. A player on the button was pondering calling off his stack but decided to fold, flashing a jack.

"Why not a value-bet?" the player asked. "Could have gotten another five, five-and-a-half out of me."

"You have ace-jack? King-jack?"

"I had something I would have called a small bet with."

Warne Doubles Up

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

After a raise and a call, Shane Warne committed his last 5,875 to the pot with {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The initial raiser reshoved all in with {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts} in an attempt to knock out the cricket legend but came up way short on an {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} rundown.

Warne is back up to over 40bb and has some breathing room again.

Triple Barrel Consistency Boosts Hachem's Stack

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Blind on blind the player in the small blind raised to 750 and Joe Hachem defended his big blind.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

"800," announced the small blind and Hachem called. The turn was the {9-Clubs}.

"800," repeated the small blind and again Hachem called.

The river was the {6-Spades}.

"800," said the small blind for a third time and Hachem wasted no time raising in position to 3,000. His opponent called.

Hachem showed {k-Spades}{10-Spades} and his opponent sat looking at his hole cards before revealing the {a-Hearts} and mucking.

O'Grady Rising Again

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Jackson Warne raised to 750 from under the gun and Michael O'Grady asked if it was a raise, as Warne had only tossed in a T-1,000 chip. The raise was confirmed and O'Grady in the small blind as well as the big blind called. The trio checked the {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop and O'Grady's bet of 1,100 on the {K-Spades} turn was called both ways.

On the {3-Clubs} river, O'Grady checked and a bet of 4,100 by the big blind won the pot uncontested. Despite losing this small pot, O'Grady is on the way back up after being down to as low as 9,000 previously.
