Puia Builds Stack Without Showdown

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Stefan Huber raised to 34,000 and Eddie Puia three-bet to 85,000, which Huber called. On the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop, Huber checked and folded to a bet by Puia. Soon after, Puia raised to 35,000 and Beau Palmer called on the button. The flop came {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Puia checked. Palmer bet 55,000 and a check-raise to 170,000 did the trick for Puia.

In a limped pot to the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, Ben Richardson and Ari Engel checked. The former bet the {K-Hearts} turn for 20,000 and was called before doing so again for 55,000 on the {A-Hearts} river. Engel called and mucked when he was shown {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a straight by Richardson.

Last but not least, Vincent Chua raised and bet three streets against Tobias Hausen, both players were in early position. The {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop brought a bet of 25,000 and a call, the {A-Hearts} turn triggered another bet of 65,000 by Chua and a call. On the {7-Spades} river, Chua made it 135,000 and forced a fold. "Show the bluff!" James Broom asked but Chua just dragged in the pot with a smile.

Barer Knocks Out Leas

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
David Leas
David Leas

Ultra short-stack David Leas committed his last five big blinds from the small blind. Ami Barer looked him up in the big blind.

David Leas: {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Ami Barer: {K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The window card was the {4-Clubs} and it got progressively worse for Leas during the {4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts} rundown. He was the last player to receive A$30,000 for his deep run.

The remaining 36 players will redraw to six tables with six people each.

Mustafa Unhappy at "Sticky" Park

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

On a turn of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Spades} Chul-Hyon Park check-called a bet of 45,000 from Arif Mustafa. The river brought the {9-Spades}. Park checked and Mustafa checked behind, opening {j-}{8-} for two pair.

Park turned over {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for rivered trips, leading to a slew of expletives from Mustafa directed at Park for being "sticky." Some remarks were harsher than others, which earned him a quick telling off from the dealer.

Burns Picks Off Lim

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Aaron Lim defended big blind from a button raise by Kahle Burns. He check-called 40,000 on {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} and they both checked the {3-Clubs}. The river was a {9-Hearts} and Lim bet 56,000. Burns thought only about 10 seconds before calling and his {k-Spades}{2-Spades} for king-high was a winner.

Cascio With the Laydown

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Szymon Wysocki raised to 28,000 and Antonino Cascio called in the cutoff.

Ami Barer then moved all in for 228,000 from the button. Wysocki called and Cascio went deep into the tank, sitting back in his chair, taking a drink and checking his hole cards.

Eventually he open-folded {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} in front of Barer, with Barer sliding his cards face down into the muck and pulling in his chips.

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Arne Ruge shoved in for 241,000 from the big blind over an early open from Aaron Lim, who called with {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Ruge had {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and was racing, and it went his way as {2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} rolled off the deck.

Koren Doubles Through Shimizu

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Artur Koren opened for 24,000 on the button and called a three-bet to 75,000 from Takao Shimizu. The flop came {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Shimizu bet 100,000. Koren called. On the {a-Diamonds} turn, Shimizu jammed for Koren's remaining 135,000. Koren sighed.

"I have trip aces," he said after tanking for a bit. "Can you beat that?"

Shimizu shrugged. After another two minutes, Koren called.

Artur Koren: {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Takao Shimizu: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Shimizu had more outs to scoop, although it was a chop for the moment. The river was a {9-Clubs} though and Koren got the full double.

Preflop Aggression Takes It

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

At table 10, Stefan Huber raised to 30,000, Beau Palmer three-bet to 75,000 two seats to his left, Huber four-bet to 160,000 and Palmer gave it up.

On table 8, Espen Solaas raised to 24,000 from under the gun, Ari Engel called in middle position and Tobias Hausen called in the small blind. Ross Grammer three-bet to 150,000 and all other players laid it down. Grammer collected the pot with a healthy laugh.

Schumacher Drops Some More

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Sherif Derias moved all in twice to claim the blinds and antes, flipping over the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

Vincent Chua made it 30,000 to go first to act and a three-bet by Tobias Hausen won the pot.

Ross Grammer raised to 26,000 and Ben Richardson three-bet to 66,000 from the hijack. After some consideration, Grammer moved all in and Richardson folded.

Over on table 10, Johan Schumacher raised to 56,000 from the small blind and Haoran Zhang called in the big blind. Schumacher continued for 44,000 on the {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop and a raise to 122,000 by Zhang won the pot uncontested, as Schumacher sent his cards into the muck.

Palmer Pains Schumacher Right Away

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

With the chips just fresh out of the bag, Beau Palmer and Johan Schumacher got into serious action right away. It was Schumacher who opened to 25,000 from under the gun. Palmer three-bet to 65,000 out of the small blind and Schumacher called.

On the {6-Spades}{J-Hearts}{A-Clubs} flop, Palmer bet 130,000 and Schumacher came along with the call. Palmer wasn't backing down on the {3-Spades} turn and moved all in for 301,000.

Schumacher held his hand before his mouth and stared at the board for minutes. He then seized up Palmer, trying to figure out the puzzle, and appeared to have a sizable hand for the situation.

After more than five minutes in the tank, Schumacher eventually elected to lay his hand down.
