Wu Rivers a Royal Flush to Move into the Chip Lead

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
David Wu
David Wu

According to his tablemates, David Wu has been the lucky recipient of a big pot after a three-way all in.

The board read {a-Clubs}{j-}{q-Clubs} when the money went in. One player held {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}, another {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the straight and Wu was drawing with {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

The turn was a brick, but the river {k-Clubs} completed his royal flush. Earlier, Wu also eliminated Anthony March who did the shuffle up and deal on Day 1b bringing his chip stack to almost 200,000 with just over an hour left in the final level of the night.

Amedi Busts One; Savinelli Doubles

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Carlo Savinelli
Carlo Savinelli

In one of the first hands after coming back from the break, a short stack jammed for the last 10,950, as the T-25 chips were not colored up yet on table 25. Netanel Amedi in the blinds got his chips in with the slightly superior stack and tabled {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. He faced {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and the board came {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades} to let Amedi nearly double.

Carlo Savinelli more than doubled after he jammed out of the big blind into a raise to 1,300 by Ryan Leng and a flat-call by Jack Salter on the button. Leng folded and Salter called.

Carlo Savinelli: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Jack Salter: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

"Good luck," Salter wished to Savinelli, who spiked top pair on the {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop. On the {10-Hearts} turn, Salter asked for the jack of clubs, but realized right away it would be no good. Instead, he now demanded for a nine, and the {8-Clubs} river brought no upset.

Zarin No More; Portaro and Gupta Roller-Coasting; Huber out

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Stefan Huber
Stefan Huber

Soon after his double up, Ashish Gupta lost a third of his stack again while Bruno Portaro, who had dropped to as low as 2,700 in the first level, won a three-way all in with aces versus kings and queens.

The same table no longer features Stefan Huber, who finished runner-up to Toby Lewis here in Melbourne one year ago. According to Andreas Klatt, Corey Kempson raised with {Q-}{9-} and Huber flat-called with {A-}{J-}. The flop came {J-}{10-}{8-} and the {A-} turn spelled the end for Huber.

Last but not least, Jonathan Zarin bowed out in a three-way all in. A short-stack jammed {10-}{9-}, Zarin isolated from one seat over with {A-}{Q-} and Joshua Mccully called in the big blind with pocket jacks. The flop came king-jack high, no ten came to the rescue for Zarin.
