Grafton Eliminates Nakanowatari

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Junichi Nakanowatari got it in from the small blind for about 250,000 and Sam Grafton set him at risk from the big with {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. It was a flip with Nakanowatari holding {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}. He pulled well in front on the {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Spades} flop. The {9-Diamonds} turn and {10-Clubs} river gave Grafton a running straight though.

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Orpen Kisacikoglu was in middle position, betting 46,000 into about 100,000 when the action was caught on a {7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Clubs} turn. Timothy Adams raised to 140,000 from the button, but Kisacikoglu fired back, announcing he was all in. Adams quickly folded.

Foxen Eliminates Chidwick

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

Alex Foxen started the tournament but busting Stephen Chidwick, and he just did so again right as the first level of post-registration got rolling. Chidwick stuck his remaining chips in with {a-Hearts}{2-Spades} on a {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop but was behind the {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} of Foxen. The {7-Clubs} turn and {9-Clubs} river sent Chidwick to the rail for good.

Bad Beat Sends Defending Champ Katz Packing

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Cary Katz was all in preflop against Michael Soyza, and he looked in great shape to find a double. Katz tabled {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}, heavily dominating Soyza's {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

However, the dealer rolled out a flop of {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and Katz was disgusted.

"Oh my god, are you f***ing kidding me?" he said.

He wouldn't get any emergency runout to chop or even scoop with a backdoor boat, and the {5-Clubs} tun and {8-Spades} river confirmed there would be a new champion crowned this year.
