Mystery Bounty 1B
Mystery Bounty 1B

Day 1B of the A$1,500 Mystery Bounty is building steadily, with 379 entries showing on the tournament board and 279 players still in contention.

That already makes it larger than Day 1A, which drew 360 entries. Maximilian Sarafin finished atop that opening flight after 55 players bagged chips last night. Late registration remains open until the start of Level 10 (approx 7:25 p.m.). The tournament has just started Level 7, with a 45-minute dinner break taking place after Level 9.

The combined field now stands at 739 entries, generating A$665,100 in the regular prize pool and A$295,600 set aside for bounties, bringing the total prize pool to A$960,700.

Cooler Flop Sees Siebel Double Through Mizrachi

Higor Siebel
Higor Siebel

In a hand between Higor Siebel and Michael Mizrachi, there was around 3,150,000 in the middle on the AK763 board.

Siebel, with 3,375,000 behind checked from the hijack, and snap-called when The Grinder jammed as the big stack from the button.

Siebel had AA for a set aces, and deflated Mizrachi, who had two pair with his K7.

“Nobody Expected These Numbers” Aussie Millions Returns with Record Fields

Cards, Chips, Branding

When the Aussie Millions Poker Championship 2026 Presented by CrownBet was announced last year after a six-year absence, there was optimism around the series comeback. But even veteran tournament director Danny McDonagh admits the early numbers have gone beyond what anyone expected.

With record-breaking fields already logged across multiple events, including the massive A$1,500 Opening Event, McDonagh said the opening week has delivered more than he anticipated.

"I think the Aussies are proud that it's come back in such a big way."

"Nobody expected the opening event number, that's for sure," McDonagh told PokerNews.

"Coming in, I was kind of nervous because it's been six years since they've done the event, and the staffing is not what it was six years ago. They've done a couple of good build-up championships leading into this, but nobody foresaw these numbers."

The Opening Event ultimately drew 2,144 entries, and strong turnouts followed immediately after. The A$5,000 Six-Max saw 305 entries, while the A$2,500 H.O.R.S.E. recorded its largest field to date.

"To kick off with three record-breaking events is brilliant for the festival," McDonagh said. "It's motivating too."

Oiberman Finds a Deuce on the River to Bust Kokkinos

Anton Lu opened to 200,000 from the hijack before Nickolas Oiberman called from the small blind. Chris Kokkinos then moved all in for 450,000 from the big blind, prompting Lu to quickly fold. Oiberman made the call to put Kokkinos at risk.

Chris Kokkinos: 44All in
Nickolas Oiberman: 22

Kokkinos held the advantage as the flop came 10109, keeping his pocket fours in front.

While waiting for the turn, Oiberman called out for a nine, hoping to increase the chances of chopping the pot.

The A landed on the turn, and the 2 fell on the river to give Oiberman a full house, sending Kokkinos to the rail in 16th place.
