Holmes Can't Miss

On a flop of {8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, Richard Holmes called the shove of his opponent. Holmes held {J-Spades}{10-Hearts} for an open-ended straight draw and would need to hit to overcome the top pair of his opponent. The turn was the {7-Hearts} and river {9-Clubs} and Holmes takes down another victim. After the hand Holmes was heard to comment "Sorry man, I haven't missed all day!"

Manny's Masterful Call

Manny Stavropoulos had slow played his hand to perfection on both the flop and turn holding pocket deuces on a board of {10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. With his opponent betting hard into him, Manny was looking to rake in a big pot. However the {4-Spades} on the river was one of the worst looking cards in the deck, as his own full house could now easily be beaten by any ten or four. His opponent fired out an 8,000 bullet on the river and Manny went into the tank for a huge decision. He eventually made a very tough call and his opponent flipped over pocket nines. Manny now sits at over 22,000 chips.

Richard Holmes Wins Monster Pot

Richard Holmes
Richard Holmes is now a clear chip leader in today's field after a massive pot was just pushed his way.

On a flop of {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}, a player bet out 2,800 from the cutoff and Holmes re-pots it from the button to about 11,000. This is enough to pot the cutoff player all in, and he makes the call his tournament life.

Holmes: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Holmes was well in front with a set as his opponent would need a miracle runner-runner on the board to stay alive. Amazingly the {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn to give his opponent maximum outs, but the {J-Diamonds} on the river was enough to send his opponent to the rail.

Holmes now has amassed over 43,000 in chips.

Michael Vartan Eliminated

Michael Vartan had been peddling his short stack for most of the day and when he looked down at K-T he decided to make a move to try and double up. Unfortunately he ran into the A-J of his opponent, and when the board failed to improve his hand, he was heading to the rail within sight of a cash finish.

40 Players Remain

Only 40 players remain in today's field with the top 18 receiving prize money. The winner of today's event will walk away with the trophy and a healthy AU$60,398 in prize money!

Peter Aristidou Eliminated

A player in the cutoff raised pre-flop to 1,200 and Peter Aristidou pushed the last of his 2,100 chips into the middle from the button. Manny Stavropoulos then came over the top of both players from the big blind for 4,600 in total and the player in the cutoff made the call. With two players all-in the cards were tabled:

Cutoff: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Aristidou: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Stavropoulos: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The board came {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}. With no player holding a spade, the straight of Stavropoulos was good to win the pot, eliminating Aristidou from today's event.
