$350 Diamond Cup
Day 2 Completed
A record-breaking 2,084 entries piled into the Diamond Cup at the 2025 Australian Poker Open, obliterating the A$500,000 guarantee to create a massive A$625,200 prize pool. From that gigantic field, just 258 players returned for Day 2, all with dreams of capturing the title and the A$110,500 top prize inside Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney.
After 15 action-packed 40-minute levels, only nine players remain, and it’s Michael O'Grady who leads the charge with a monstrous stack of 30,350,000 — almost a third of the chips in play. He’ll return atop the counts tomorrow, followed by Welyam Gelyana (17,225,000) and Shayne Sim (11,725,000), as the final table gets set for a thrilling conclusion.

With 258 players returning for Day 2 in the money, it was no surprise to see a flurry of early eliminations. Jhye Kelley, Marcial Dias, and Michel Bouskila were among the roughly 100 players who hit the rail before the first break. Bouskila found himself on the wrong end of a cooler against Andrew Samoa, who brings the fifth-biggest stack into the final table.
Samoa had just flatted Bouskila’s open with pocket aces and flopped a monster on an ace-king-king board. Bouskila, holding Big Slick, also made a full house, and it was no surprise to see the chips fly into the middle. The brutal cooler catapulted Samoa toward the final table and left Bouskila wondering what might have been.
As play got towards the final few tables, both Liam Murray and Reece Bedot were in contention, but their dreams of making the final table came crashing down in the same hand as they were both sent packing by Kyle Waihi. Not long after, Waihi's run came to an end in twelfth and left the field just two eliminations from a massive final table.
O'Grady's stack had already swollen to over 25,000,000 after winning a gigantic flip against Charlie Leiataua, when his ace-king flopped a king to crack his opponent's queens. Moments later, another double elimination ended play for the day as O'Grady sent both Ying Zhang and Wiremu Moodie to the rail, agonizingly close to a huge payday.
All nine finalists have locked up A$7,900 for their efforts so far, but the real prize lies ahead. A final table run could see payouts climb steadily, with the top three set to earn A$40,500, A$65,500, and the ultimate A$110,500 for the champion. Even a fourth-place finish is worth A$28,500, ensuring a solid return for anyone who can ladder up. With a prestigious trophy and six-figure payday on the line, the pressure will be sky-high when play resumes.

Ying Zhang shoved for 2,350,000 from the hijack and after mulling it over for a while, Wiremu Moodie called off his stack of 2,275,000 from the small blind. Michael O'Grady, who held a monster stack, was sitting in the big blind and contemplating making the call to try and bring around the final table.
After thinking it over for around a minute, O'Grady called, which drew a crowd of spectators around the table who wanted to watch the three-way pot unfold.
Wiremu Moodie: K♦J♦
Ying Zhang: 8♥8♠
Michael O'Grady: Q♥3♥
Zhang and Moodie were both on the prowl for a triple-up, but O'Grady was screaming for a queen as he attempted to bring the night to an end. His screams were heard by the poker gods as the Q♣6♣5♥ flop gave him top pair and made him a big favorite in the hand.
Moodie wanted a king, but it was Zhang who picked up more outs on the turn as the 7♠ gave him an open-ended straight draw, which added to the drama. However, it was O'Grady's hand that prevailed as the 10♠ river bricked off, ending both Moodie and Zhang's tournament.

Welyam Gelyana made it 800,000 to go from under the gun and Kyle Waihi shoved his last 1,600,000 into the centre from the big blind. Gelyana quickly called.
Kyle Waihi: 3♣3♥
Welyam Gelyana: 6♥6♦
Waihi was way behind with his treys but perhaps momentarily thought he had taken the lead on the 6♣3♦4♥ flop as he made a set, but so did Gelyana! It was quads for Gelyana when the 6♠ dropped on the turn, which confirmed Waihi's departure. A meaningless 4♠ hit the river, and Waihi made his exit.

Michael O'Grady just won a huge flip to give him a big chip lead and thin down the field by one!
O'Grady made it 600,000 from under the gun and Charlie Leiataua three-bet from the button to around 2,000,000. O'Grady then shoved for over 15,000,000, and after some time, Leiataua called off his stack of around 10,000,000.
Charlie Leiataua: Q♥Q♣
Michael O'Grady: A♠K♣
It was a tournament-defining flip for both players and one that O'Grady took a firm hold of on the 2♦K♦J♣ flop as he paired his king. A 3♣ on the turn left Leiataua with just two outs and one chance to find them, but he couldn't do it as the 10♥ dropped on the river.
Delight for O'Grady, despair for Leiataua!

Jin Xue shoved his stack of 2,300,000 from under the gun and Corey van Jaarsveldt shoved with a slightly covering stack in the hijack.
Jin Xue: 3♠3♣
Corey Van Jaarsveldt: A♦J♣
This flip was crucial for both players, but especially for Xue as he was the at-risk player with his pocket threes. Those threes didn't look so good after the 7♣A♠4♠ flop gave van Jaarsveldt a pair of aces, leaving Xue on the ropes.
Neither the 9♥ turn nor 2♣ river offered any salvation for Xue, and he hit the rail in 14th.
