In just the second hand of heads-up play, Ronald Kaepernick moved all in with 10♥8♦ for his last 2,800,000 and got called by Ian Auvil with K♦9♥.

Auvil was on the verge of an incredible win after coming back from three big blinds.

The flop came 3♠4♥2♠, bringing no help to Kaepernick.

The A♣ turn brought Kaepernick some chop outs, but the 9♠ locked down the hand for Auvil with a pair of nines to take the title.

Kaepernick takes home $22,500 for his runner-up finish, while Auvil was declared the champion.

Gregg Bloom raised on the button with Q♦10♦ to 1,200,000, leaving himself 1,700,000 behind. Ian Auvil called in the small blind with 3♠3♥.

The flop came J♠9♦3♣ and Auvil moved all in with his set of threes. Bloom called with his open-ended straight draw.

The turn though was the 9♥, filling up Auvil to cinch the hand. Just for good measure, he drilled the 3♦ on the river to make quads and bring the tournament to heads-up play between Auvil and Ronald Kaepernick.

Folded to Paul Chamberlain in the small blind, he moved all in for 1,400,000 holding 9♥2♣, obviously hoping for a fold to steal the pot and add some chips to his shrinking stack.

Unfortunately for Chamberlain, Gregg Bloom held A♠J♥ in the big blind and called.

The flop came 10♣7♣2♦, pairing Chamberlain's deuce to take the lead.

The K♦ turn gave Bloom additional outs to Broadway, and the river brought the A♦, giving Bloom the win with a rivered ace to send Chamberlain home in fourth place.

The three remaining players are all now guaranteed at least $10,000.

The flop came A♦3♠2♦, bringing a world of outs to Bloom.

The A♣ turn changed nothing, but the 4♦ on the river brought Bloom everything he could want with a wheel and a flush.

Medrano headed to the payout desk to pick up his 5th place money, while Bloom extended his chip lead.

The flop came 8♣8♦8♥, bringing Purdy a full house. The turn was then 3♥, changing nothing, but the A♦ on the river drilled Bloom, giving him a better full house to take the pot and the chip lead while sending Purdy to the rail in 6th place.

After Gregg Bloom limped Q♥8♣ in the small blind, David Phillips checked his K♣J♣.

The action flop came K♦Q♦8♠, and action did indeed come with Bloom holding two pair and Phillips with top pair.

After Bloom checked, Phillips bet 125,000 and got check-raised by Bloom to 300,000. Phillips then moved all in for 925,000 and after a bit of thought, Bloom called.

The turn 4♥ and river 3♣ brought Phillips no help and his top pair went down in flames to eliminate him in 7th place.

Bogdan Zavu Eliminated in 9th Place ($1,250), Chip Leaders Clash in Huge Pot

After Ian Auvil limped in middle position with 9♥9♣, Bogdan Zavu moved all in for 300,000 with A♣J♥.

Chip leader Chris Davis then just called in the big blind with K♥K♦, a move that could potentially lead to his demise.

That's because the flop came 10♥9♠8♥, bringing Auvil a set. Better yet for him, Davis then moved all in with his kings for 1,700,000 effective, and of course Auvil happily called.

The board completed with the 2♣ and 5♥, Sending a huge pot to Auvil, and almost secondarily, eliminating Zavu.

Davis meanwhile is still alive, but on the short stack.

Nick Sims moved all in from under the gun for 330,000, as did Miguel Medrano in the big blind for a very similar stack.

The flop came J♣J♠8♣ instantly bringing trips to Medrano. The 10♣ on the turn gave Sims some hope with a gutshot straight draw, but the 8♠ on the river filled up Medrano.

After the chips were counted up, Sims was left with just 5,000 chips.

He spun it up to 50,000, but then shoved his K♠7♥ under the gun into Ian Auvil's K♥K♦, and after a J♣6♦2♦3♣8♦ runout, last year's third-place finisher was eliminated in 10th place.
