Updated Stacks at the Break

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Shashikhina Hops Back In, Loses Some

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Sonia-Veronika Shashikhina recently bought back into the tournament and found herself already playing a big heads-up pot on a board reading {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}.

Shashikhina bet a big 25,000 on the river with less than that behind and her opponent called. Shashikhina turned over a bluff with {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for king-high and the opponent showed {a-Spades}{4-Spades} to take the pot.

Aces for Alexandrov

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Vladimir Alexandrov
Vladimir Alexandrov

Yuriy Garifoulline opened to 2,600 from the button and then called the 11,100 three-bet from big blind Vladimir Alexandrov.

Alexandrov continued for 6,200 and then called off the rest of his stack when his opponent moved all in on the {q-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop.

Vladimir Alexandrov: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Yuriy Garifoulline: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Both players would make a full house on the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} runout but Alexandrov's hand remained best.

Wigg Eliminates Shashikhina

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Anton Wigg
Anton Wigg

Sonia-Veronika Shashikhina was eliminated by Anton Wigg when she held {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} against the {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} of Wigg on a board of {4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and was unable to hit her flush.

Shashikhina pushed her stack over to Wigg in the next seat, but there was some debate as to whether Wigg had covered her as the stacks had been pushed together. The floor determined that Wigg had in fact covered her and the dealer pushed him the pot.

Martinez Downs Berkey; Charette Buys In as Rabichow and Wigg Reenter

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Matt Berkey
Matt Berkey

Matt Berkey was seen leaving the tournament room with late entrant Raul Martinez raking in the last of his chips.

Elsewhere, Duff Charette (also a late entrant) has more than doubled his stack while Kevin Rabichow and Anton Wigg are on their second bullet.

Elias Loses Most of Stack

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Darren Elias
Darren Elias

Atul Sehgal limped from under the gun before Darren Elias raised to 4,400 from the next seat over. David Botcowsky made it 13,800 from the button and only Elias called.

The {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop checked through to the {4-Hearts} turn and and Elias bet 32,000. Botcowsky called.

Elias then checked on the {a-Diamonds} river. His opponent bet 41,000 and Elias went into the tank. He eventually called and then mucked after Botcowsky turned over his {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} for two pair, aces and queens.

Rollercoaster Runout Keeps Daniels Afloat

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jake Daniels
Jake Daniels

Jake Daniels was in a three-way pot on a board reading {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. A player bet 5,000 and the next player to act called, while Daniels check-raised to 17,000.

The initial bettor re-raised all-in for 49,800 and Daniels snap-called with less when the action folded to him.

Jake Daniels: {q-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Daniels was in front with trips but still needed to dodge a diamond. The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} to give the opponent the flush and Daniels stood up from his seat in defeat.

"I'm always losing — Oh! Look at that!" he said as the dealer put out the {3-Clubs} to improve him to a full house.

"Don't say I stood up. Say 'Jake said a three is always coming.' That sounds better!" Daniels instructed PokerNews.
