Restrepo Doubles Thru Stein

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Daniel Restrepo
Daniel Restrepo

Aaron Stein (cutoff) and Daniel Restrepo (sb) got all-in pre-flop. Restrepo was ahead with {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} but at risk for his tournament life. Stein had {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

The flop of {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} gave Stein a flush draw and he was calling for a a club "one time". The {4-Clubs} on the turn completed his flush and it looked like Restrepo was done.

Then the {a-Diamonds} completed the board, giving Restrepo aces-full and the double-up.

They finished the level and the final nine have headed out for a one-hour dinner break. Play will resume at 8pm.

John McGuinness
John McGuinness

John McGuinness jammed for 1,035,000 from the cutoff and got action from Christopher Pham Le on the button. McGuinness' {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} was torpedoed by Le's {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}.

The runout was just salt in the wound for McGuinness as it came {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, improving Le to aces-full.

John McGuinness finished in 11th place for $1,902.

The final ten players are drawing for seats and moving to the final table.

Le Takes One from Clavell

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Christopher Pham Le
Christopher Pham Le

Christopher Le opened for 180,000 and got called by Julio Clavell in the big blind.

On the flop of {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts}, they put on the brakes and both checked. On the {5-Spades} turn, Clavell checked, Le bet 100,000, then Clavell check-raised to 300,000. Le called.

The {j-Diamonds} completed the board and they checked it down. Clavell tabled {j-Spades}{10-Spades} for two pair, but Le's {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} was a better two pair to take the pot.

David Jackson Eliminated in 12th Place ($1,902)

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
David Jackson
David Jackson

When action folded to his small blind, David Jackson jammed into Aaron Stein's big blind, who had him covered. Stein snapped with {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and had Jackson's {a-}{8-} in bad shape.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{j-Spades}{4-} and missed Jackson completely. He hit the rail in 12th place, earning $1,902.

Stein collected the huge pot, chipping up to ~4.5 million and challenging Julio Clavell for the chip lead.

Bryan Kunkel Eliminated in 13th Place ($1,463)

Level 27 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Bryan Kunkel
Bryan Kunkel

Bryan Kunkel opened for 205,000 only to have Boris Gandeman jam on him from the small blind. After some though, Kunkel let it go and was left with only about 800,000.

He got that in under-the-gun, getting action from chip leader Julio Clavell. Kunkel's {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} had run smack into Clavell's {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

The board brought no salvation for Kunkel as it ran out {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. He was eliminated in 13th place ($1,463).

Clavell chipped up to 4.3 million and has a huge lead on the final dozen players.
