Event #11: $400 Almighty Stack

Day 1a of Event #11 $400 Almighty Stack NLH is in the books after seventeen levels of play. There are 53 players moving on to Day 2 and it was Markus Alim all alone at the top of the chip counts.

Alim vaulted to the top in one of the last hands of the night holding {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} against the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} of Frank Funaro in an all-in preflop confrontation.

The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Spades} improving Alim to the nut flush and to eliminate Funaro in brutal fashion.

Alim put a staggering 2,037,000 in the bag, which is nearly double his nearest competitor.

Sam Preis was the only other player this flight over the million chip mark with 1,080,000.

The combined Almighty Stack survivors will return on Friday, November 15 at noon local time to begin Day 2 play. Below is a look at some of the big stacks and players that are advancing.

A full list of chip counts and seating assignments will be posted before the start of Day 2 play.
