There was a lot of movement among the big stacks in the last level and when the dust settled, Ryan Dodd bagged the chip lead for this flight with 1,067,000. He just edged out Bob Van Syckle, who bagged 1,033,000. They were the only two bagging more than one million.

James McKinnon surged to 953,000, Matt Iles bagged 901,000, and a late-day rush for Jane Hitchcock had her bagging 879,000, good for fifth in Flight C.

An assortment of big stacks and others are listed below. All 109 of the Day 1c survivors will return tomorrow, joining those from the other three flights, in the Poker Room for Day 2 at 12 noon. A full list of chip counts with Day 2 seat assignments will be posted in the morning before the start of play.

Grasso Catches a Queen to Survive

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Marco Grasso
Marco Grasso

Marco Grasso was all-in with pocket queens against a player with {a-}{k-}.

An ace on the turn had Grasso headed for the door, but then he was saved by a Queen on the river.

Doubling up to 245,000 with just four more hands to play in the night, might just be enough to get him a coveted plastic bag for Day 2!

Bob Van Syckle

Matt Iles' stack has slipped a bit — he's down to about 700,000.

The last level is ticking away.

Phillip Phan
Phillip Phan

Phillip Phan got all-in holding {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} against the {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} of Daniel Restrepo.

There was an Ace in the window as the dealer spread the flop of {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}, giving Phan the lead with a pair of Aces.

The last two fell {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and changed nothing. Phan doubled up to 235,000 while Restrepo's stack slipped to about 355,000.

The river was a brick and they checked it down. Seat 3 had {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a pair of Kings with a whiffed flush draw. Adam Agaev had {j-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the whiffed straight and flush draws. Malebranche's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} took the pot with a pair of Aces, tripling him up to about 500,000.
