Joel Verbeck
Joel Verbeck

Preflop action saw several players with chips in front of them in a raised pot before Joel Verbeck, who also had chips invested at this point, announced he was all in from middle position. Richard Seale gave him action from the button and the two turned up their hands.

Richard Seale: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Joel Verbeck: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Verbeck was in fantastic shape to double up and was able to do so as the runout came {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Bybee Check-Raises Flop

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

Evan Shaughnessy opened to 2,200 from under the gun and action folded around to David Bybee, who called from the small blind. The big blind defended and the three saw a flop of {3-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Action checked to Shaughnessy, who made a continuation-bet of 2,800. Bybee check-raised to 6,000. The big blind looked back at her cards before sending them to the muck and Shaughnessy took a few moments before folding as well, resulting in the pot being sent Bybee's way.

Martie Flushes Out Top Two

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

Action was three handed on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} with around 7,500 in the pot. The big blind checked, as did Svetlana Martie in the cutoff. The player on the button checked as well.

The turn fell {j-Diamonds} and the big blind bet 3,000. Martie put in a raise to 14,000 and the player on the button folded. The big blind went into the tank for over a minute before putting in the rest of his chips, totaling about 17,000. Martie called.

Svetlana Martie: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The big blind found his top two pair had run into Martie's flush and was in need of filling up in order to stay alive. The river came clean and Martie's flush held as the pot was sent her way.

Kurtz Over Six Figures

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

There was over 10,000 in the pot on a board of {4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} in a heads-up pot between the big blind and his opponent, Kevin Kurtz, who was in early position.

The big blind fired on the turn for 7,000 and Kurtz called. The river came {q-Clubs} and the big blind fired again for 8,000. Kurtz thought for about 30 seconds and tossed in calling chips.

"You're good," said the big blind. "I missed."

Kurtz tabled {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and the big blind mucked.

"Open-ended," he added as Kurtz raked in his chips, bringing his stack to over six figures in the process.

Kim Shows the Bluff

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

David Kim opened to 1,350 from early position and received a call from the player on his left in middle position. The two went heads up to a flop of {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} and Kim fired a continuation-bet of 1,600. His opponent called.

The turn fell {5-Clubs} and Kim checked. His opponent bet 2,050 and Kim check-raised to 6,500. His opponent thought for a few seconds and put in chips to call.

The river came {k-Spades} and Kim put out another bet of 12,000, around half of his opponent's remaining stack. The player in middle position went into the tank for close to two minutes, looking back at his cards a couple times before reluctantly folding as if he wanted to show the laydown he was making.

Kim then checked his own cards and proceeded to table {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for nothing more than jack high as the dealer sent the pot his way.

Kevin Kurtz opened from the hijack to 1,000 and was three-bet by the small blind to 3,000. Kurtz confirmed the amount and announced a call.

Kurtz put in a raise to 12,1000 and the small blind asked to see his remaining chips of around 15,100 before going all in for slightly less. Kurtz quickly called.

Kevin Kurtz: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Small Blind: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The river ran out clean as the small blind tapped the table to congratulate Kurtz on a nice hand and proceeded to wish everybody good luck while getting up from his seat.
