Sanoubane Goes Boat-Over-Boat To Double

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Bobby Sanoubane
Bobby Sanoubane

Bobby Sanoubane was collecting a huge pot with his winning hand of {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} tabled on a board of {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. According to Sanoubane and tablemate Samuel Uhlmann, Jay Jesse opened to 10,000 from under the gun and got two calls in position, one of which was from Patrick Coleman on the button. Sanoubane defended his big blind and the four saw the flop, where action checked to Coleman, who bet 20,000. Sanoubane raised to 80,000 and James called behind, prompting a fold from Coleman.

Both players checked the turn and then Sanoubane bet 80,000 and called off his remaining 120,000 or so when Jesse put him in.

Jesse had {10-}{10-} for a flopped full house that became second best by the turn and stayed that way, securing the double for Sanoubane.

Mike Itoafa: {k-}{2-}
Andy Tinkle: {a-}{q-}

The runout came with both a king and a deuce, giving Iotafa kings up to knock Tinkle out, bringing his tournament to an end.

Dea's Day Comes To an End

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Andrew Dea
Andrew Dea

Andrew Dea was overheard announcing he was all in and Barb Visher was heard saying call instantaneously afterward. The board read {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Andrew Dea: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Barb Visher: {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

According to Visher, action was three ways on the flop with Dea checking to Caleb Pence, who was to Visher's right. Pence bet 23,000 and Visher raised to 83,000. Dea went into the tank and eventually called. Pence got out of their way and the turn fell {4-Clubs}, where Dea shoved and was immediately called.

Dea was in need of hitting his flush draw to stay alive, but was unable to do so as the river fell {k-Diamonds} and he was sent to the payout desk.

Post-Bubble Eliminations

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Play Is In The Money

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Steve Wilkie
Steve Wilkie

The elimination of Tricia Coogan brought the tournament down to 37 players and Michael Rankins was all in for his tournament life on an adjacent table as Coogan was eliminated.

Rankins had the nut flush draw and a pair against Don Angstead's set of fives and was unable to fill up, resulting in the bubble bursting without any official hand-for-hand play being required.

In the meantime, Steve Wilkie was a benefactor of bubble play, and has become the first player in the tournament to eclipse the one-million chip mark.

Dea Busts Levi; Pence Doubles Through Dea

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
David Levi
David Levi

Andrew Dea opened to 12,000 from the hijack and called a reshove from David Levi in the cutoff for around 70,000.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, leaving Dea continuing to draw thin. The turn fell {k-Clubs} and Dea called for a ten on the river. The dealer complied, bringing the {10-Hearts} to give him Broadway and eliminate Levi.

He has since doubled up Caleb Pence, with the two having gotten stacks in on an {a-}{q-}{x-} flop, where Dea had ace-king and Pence had a set of queens.

Schwulst Doubles; Chip Counts from Table 5

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Brandon Schwulst shoved all in for his last 55,000 from the button and was called by Lawrence Brink out of the big blind.

Brandon Schwulst: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Lawrence Brink: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Schwulst needed to hit a king or a queen to stay alive and did so as the board ran out {5-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} to give him the double at Brink's expense.

Meyer Doubles; Chip Counts from Table 6

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Steve WIlkie had recently chipped up to over 800,000 prior to the following hand: Wilkie opened from early position to 18,000 and action folded around to Aaron Meyer, who was on the button. Meyer shoved and Wilkie called.

Aaron Meyer: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Steve Wilkie: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Meyer was in dominating shape to double up and the board ran out {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds} to ensure he would do just that.

Dea Makes the Right Call

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Steve Patch
Steve Patch

Steve Patch raised to 15,000 from under the gun and Andrew Dea three-bet him from his direct left. Action folded back to Patch and he called, bringing the flop {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Patch then went all in for 78,500.

Dea went into the tank for about a minute, debating whether he was more likely to be doing that with an overpair-type hand such as jacks, or two unpaired cards such as ace-queen. He decided to look up Patch, putting forward a stack of chips to call.

"Good call," said Patch as he turned over {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

Dea tabled {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

Dea's call with ace high left him in front, needing to fade pair outs as well as the four eights in the deck that would give Patch the nut straight. The turn came {9-Spades}, leaving Patch down to one card, which fell {2-Hearts} and left him with zero chips.

With Patch's bust out, 40 players remain. The tournament will get into the money after four more eliminations.
