€560 Main Event

Day 1b Completed

Alexandru Mitracu Bags the Day 1b Chip Lead

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Fifteen players qualified for Day 2 out of a total field of 97 entrants on Day 1a of the 2023 €560 Eurasian Poker Tour Main Event at 888poker Room in Bucharest. This last sentence could be copied and pasted for Day 1b, because once again, 15 players made it through to Day 2 out of 97 entrants.

On this very quick second flight of the tournament (two levels fewer than on Day 1a), Alexandru Mitracu ended up as the chip leader with 455,000 chips. But it was a close call because Ran Shahar, in the lead the whole day, bagged 440,000, so he's only trailing by three big blinds.

The difference was made after the last break, after which Shahar lost a few pots while Mitracu won a big one. "I had pocket treys in the under-the-gun position on a deuce-deuce-trey-ten-jack board against the cutoff and the big blind," he explained at the end of the day. "Everybody checked the flop; then I bet 16,000 on the turn. The cutoff raised to 43,000, and I called. On the river, he bet, I raised all in, and he went into the tank for five minutes. He called with king-ten".

Stefan Necsanu bagged in third place with 374,000, closely followed by Serbia's Milovan Dinovic (349,000). Andrei Ciuca (279,000), Alain El-Hajj (253,000) and Alexandru Matei (194,000) ended the day with smaller stacks, but still big enough to be close to the average.

Nobody had very short stacks anyway, as the shortest ones — Gheorghe Velcea (117,000) and Dmitri Dudakov (124,000) — still have more than 20 blinds.

Hand-for-Hand Begins

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Dan Petrea has been eliminated, so there were 16 players left for 15 places in the money. The tournament director stopped the clock to start the hand-for-hand procedure.

Level: 14

Blinds: 3,000/5,000

Ante: 5,000

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 6,000 ante
Jonas Degen
Jonas Degen

Jonas Degen under the gun and Gheorghe Stefan on the button flipped their cards preflop, with Stefan being the one at risk for 110,000.

Gheorghe Stefan: AQ
Jonas Degen: KK

The flop 210Q brought a queen for Stefan, then a second one came with the turn Q to give him trips. And after the river 9, Stefan doubled up.

Down to 25,000, Degen moved all in on the next hand, and faced Stefan again.

Jonas Degen: Q7
Gheorghe Stefan: K4

Once again, Stefan won this hand on 5466K, and Degen was sent to the rail.

Two more eliminations are needed to reach the money and end Day 1b.

Eight Eliminations in 15 Minutes

Level 13 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 6,000 ante

There were 27 players left when Level 13 started. But only 15 minutes later, eight of them were out, most of them because they had between 5 and 15 blinds.

However, Dan Petrea is an exception, because when he moved all in for 28,000 from the button, he doubled through Ran Shahar in the hijack.

Dan Petrea: AA
Ran Shahar: A8

On a board of J76Q9, he won with his aces. And he doubled up again a few hands later, once more against Shahar.
