73 Players Remaining

There are 73 players left and they all returned from a break. The action is currently eight-handed. That's a nice happy medium. It's not quite a full table of ten and it's not exactly short-handed. The result is a rapid pace of eliminations.

Aiding & Abetting

Braced for propping
Braced for propping
David Benyamine has just joined a Table of Doom at the far end of the room that now consists of Gus Hansen, Barry Greenstein and Ian Frazer. As the Frenchman arrived, he took one look at Greestein and suggested with all the enthusiasm of a child on Christmas Eve, "Let's play prop bets."

Greenstein's arm required little twisting, and all that was required were the weapons of mass destruction. "Hey, do you know if I can get some paper and pens?" Benyamine asked me. Although tempted to offer him the number to Gambler's Anonymous rather than play any part in their den of prop-betting iniquity, I swiftly supplied the relevant utensils. I hang my head in shame.

Meanwhile, the counts on that table are:

Hansen -- 86,000
Frazer -- 115,000
Greenstein -- 49,500
Alain Roy -- 86,400
Arnaud Mattern -- 115,500

A Glint in my Eye

Blinding performance from Scotty
Blinding performance from Scotty
Jannick Wrang raised to 4,300 from the cut-off, Stefano Panzeri raised to 22,000 from the big blind and Wrang announced all in. At this point, I was distracted by shouts of "Baby" deriving from Scotty Nguyen on the table behind, and as I swiveled round, I kid you not, the glint of his medallions momentarily blinded me.

By the time my sight had returned, the hand on the initial table had completed, and I'd missed the showdown. However, Wrang was rising from his seat, and exiting stage left as Panzeri scooped up the pot, so I think it's safe to say that Wrang made the call and came up short.

Booty Call

Ahaha mi hearties, mi ol sea buddy Max Pescatori has doubled up them pieces of eight courtesy of Swedish swashbuckler Gunnar Rabe, the Italian Pirate shipping them in with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} versus {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}. There were no shivering timbers as a {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} hit the deck, and Pescatori took the booty. He now has around 110,000 in his treasure chest. Ahaha.

Fireworks Display

As predicted earlier, there have been more fireworks on the far table, with Gus Hansen and Ian Frazer locking horns once again. This time both players held legitimate hands, Frazer pipping his man to the post with {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} versus {Q-?}{Q-?}. The {A-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{2-Spades} board changed nothing for the Dane, whilst The Raiser doubled up what appeared to be a 60,000 stack.
