Antonio Battisti Eliminated in Monster Pot

Antonio Battisti
Antonio Battisti
Michael Schulze raised from early position and Antonio Battisti re-raised to 35,000. When the action got back to Schulze, he moved all in. Antonio eventually made the call as he slammed his {A-Spades}{J-Spades} down on the table. This was a 600,000 chip pot and Michael casually revealed his {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

The board was dealt out {4-Spades}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Antonio Battisti was eliminated in 12th place earning $44,188.

Sebastian Ruthenberg
Sebastian Ruthenberg
Sebastian Ruthenberg and Mehdi Ouakhir went all in pre-flop with Mehdi just covering Sebastian.

Sebastian: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Mehdi: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The board had eight high with no flush or straight possibilities and Sebastian Ruthenberg was eliminated in 13th place earning $34,724.

Schulze Makes Quads; Eliminates Juhola

Jari-Pekka Juhola - 14th Place
Jari-Pekka Juhola - 14th Place
A short-stacked Jari-Pekka Juhola moved all in holding {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and the action folded around to Michael Schulze in the small blind who moved in over the top, forcing the big blind out of the pot; Schulze tabled a mighty pocket pair of kings at the showdown.

A flop of {7-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} left Juhola drawing quite slim, but the {7-Clubs} fell off on the turn, giving him a glimmer of hope - albeit a tiny one. Lee Nelson's turn commentary drew a laugh from the crowd: "The turn card is a seven, so Jari actually has an out."

Someone would indeed make quads on the hand, but unfortunately for Juhola it wouldn't be him, as the {K-Spades} was the last card to fall off the deck giving Schulze the winner.

Juhola earned $34,724 in prize money for his 14th place finish, while Schulze stacked up an impressive 480,000 after the hand.

Willian Johnson Eliminated

Ricardo Sousa raised on the button and Willian Johnson called in the big blind. The flop was dealt {4-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades} and Willian check-raised all in. It was not the best time to do this as Ricardo had {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} which left Willian's {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} in bad shape. The {K-Hearts} did give hime a glimmer of hope on the turn but the {6-Clubs} river killed his chances and he was eliminated in 15th place earning $25,257.

Ricardo Sousa is now the chip leader with 750,000.

Seppo Parkkinen Eliminated

Seppo Parkkinen was down to his last 40,000 chips and moved all in after Ricardo Sousa had opened UTG. Christian Öman had called also and both were committed to call the all in. The flop was dealt {Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Ricardo bet 40,000 into a 100,000 pot. Christian folded, so the cards were on their backs.

Ricardo: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Seppo: {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

The turn and river were {5-Hearts}, {3-Diamonds}, which meant that Seppo was eliminated in 16th place earning $25,257.

Schulze Cracks Sonesson's Aces

Christoffer Sonesson - 17th Place
Christoffer Sonesson - 17th Place
German player Michael Schulze had a stroke of early luck in a hand against Christoffer Sonesson that earned him a 320,000 pot and sent Sonesson to the rail.

On a K-J-5 board, Sonesson and Schulze got it all in - Sonesson with pocket aces and Schulze, a set of fives. The turn and river were inconsequential and Sonesson was left short-stacked and desperate. Moments later, he shoved his remaining chips into the middle holding Q-4 and was called, once again by Schulze, who tabled A-6. The board brought no help for either player and Schulze's ace-high took down the miniature pot.

Sonesson walked away with $18,942 in prize money for his 17th place finish.

The Last Pole Standing

Janusz Petlic, formerly the last Polish player remaining in the tournament, was just eliminated by PokerStars sponsored player Sebastian Ruthenberg. All of the money went in pre-flop and at the showdown, Ruthenberg tabled a pocket pair of nines having Petlic's pocket eights quite dominated.

The board ran out {4-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} and Ruthenberg took down the pot, bringing his chip count to just under 200,000 for the day.

For his 19th place finish, Janusz Petlic took home $18,942 in prize money.
